Networking and speaking in my business are two of the most important and revenue producing activities that I do. BUT it’s because of my extensive follow up system and engagement before, during and after an event that makes it more profitable.
One thing I see with other speakers and entrepreneurs is they collect a TON of business cards at events or fill in forms, contact info, etc. however they RARELY do anything with them. (At least not enough with them.)
On this video I share a few tips on what YOU CAN DO with those new contacts and business cards that you collect so you know how to better maximize your time and investment in attending events.
Because there are some very important NO-NO’s that you want to be aware of and believe it or not, this doesn’t necessarily come natural to most people.

Now, one of the most important things to do with those cards is sort them.
- By where you met them
- Maybe by whether they are Hot, Warm or Cold leads OR if they’re JV (joint venture/referral) type sources
- Whether they are Auto Adds or Not Auto Adds – meaning if you have their approval to add them to your database/email newsletter or not. Just because they actually give you their card does not mean they give you permission to email them, you must get a Verbal Opt In from them. (I explain all of this in depth in my Jumpstart Your Marketing® Follow Up System)
Then of course you have to do something with them – you want to follow up in 4 different ways with ALL contacts:
- mail and
- connect with them on social media too!
The other, second most important thing to do with those business cards, is to actually get them entered into your database (email marketing system or shopping cart) – DATA ENTRY is the top reason why most entrepreneurs do not do enough follow up because they don’t delegate this step. You think you’re going to get around to doing this yourself but let’s face it, most of you are not nor should you!
