Finding speaking gigs of all sorts is an extremely important revenue producing activity that I believe most entrepreneurs want to be focused on each and every week.
If you’re not speaking weekly at this point and you are a speaker, what are you doing?
There are opportunities EVERYWHERE to speak.
Heck, you can create your own speaking gigs – online, in person and all over. If you’re not doing that, why not?

A couple others that I forgot to mention on the video are:
1 – Put a Google Alert on for “Call for Speakers” then when anyone puts that on a webpage you’ll be notified. Now, you might be notified QUITE OFTEN if you’re not careful or if you don’t narrow that phrase down a bit but give it a try!
2 – If you wish to speak to corporations or larger associations and conferences, besides doing the things I mention on the video or in #1 above, you will also want to build a PROSPECT LIST of companies and organizations. Then you have to reach out in a direct marketing approach to those people, connections and companies multiple times over a period of time to build relationships with them. Normally you’ll have to allow them to get to know you over time before they may be ready to speak with you so don’t give up after just one or two contacts!
Now… in order to get booked these days often you also must have a video of yourself doing your talk or with an example “sizzle reel” of some kind.
You want to figure out how to get a video of yourself in front of a couple audiences or more if you don’t already have some footage.

There is a big difference between speaker sheets and speaker media kits. While both contain valuable information about the public speaker, they vastly differ in purpose.
A Speaker Sheet or Speaker One Sheet delivers information about a person’s speaking abilities and the value delivered to the audience in an effort to get booked for speaking engagements.
Meeting planners and event organizers use them to determine who will speak at their events. Speaker bureaus and agencies use speaker sheets to promote clients.
The amount of information on a speaker sheet varies from speaker to speaker. Here are the essential components:
Topic Titles and Description
A digital speaker sheet file (such as a PDF) is absolutely necessary. It can be sent through email or uploaded onto a website for immediate download. A printed speaker sheet is very useful and is typically one or two pages. There are pros and cons to both formats.
A Speaker Media Kit or Speaker Press Kit delivers information about a person’s message or story in an effort to get publicity via TV, radio, newspaper, magazines, etc.
Media outlets, news desk managers, journalists, and publicists look for interesting stories to feature all of the time.
Unlike the speaker sheet, the information is geared to gaining publicity and have these components:

A digital speaker media kit is a must have, especially if video and audio are available. It can be several pages saved as a PDF file and sent through email or uploaded onto a website for immediate download. For media campaigns, a media kit can be printed and presented as a collated stack of papers, a large three-panel brochure, or tiered multiple pages arranged in a custom-made folder.
To summarize: a Speaker Sheet is perfect for getting speaking engagements while a Speaker Media Kit is ideal for gaining publicity. Having a digital file is a necessity. For best results, professional printing should be considered.

Today I’m talking about a quick tip about using handouts when speaking. If you’ve followed me even for a short period of time, you know that I use speaking as my #1 marketing strategy in my own business. And I teach it to my clients and other entrepreneurs as well.
Speaking is really the #1 Fastest Path to Cash. You can leverage your time and expertise by talking on a video (like this one you are viewing), a telesummit, a webinar or in person at a conference, at a meeting or even a very small group. I’ve spoken to a room of as little as 5 people in the room (including myself and the host) and as many as 3,000. You can get started anywhere. So today, I want to teach you about using handouts in your speaking presentation, specifically offline but you can use these strategies for online speaking too. If you are using handouts when you are speaking online, you’ll drive people to a pdf that has a special link. You can use this strategy if you are even speaking on a radio show or a podcast too. As a speaker, you’ll need to know several ways to be prepared because many times a speaker will not be permitted to sell from the stage. There are things you can do to negotiate ways you can generate leads.

Today I want to talk about maximizing free gifts you offer in your business. This is a great way to generate leads both online and at events.
I’m talking about when you go to someone’s website and see an opt-in box where you are offered a free audio, video, webinar, a drawing, free report or download to entice you to sign up for their newsletter. If you are online, you need to offer this. And, your website needs to have the functionality to display the opt-in box, you’ll need a way to deliver your gift automatically via email or on your website.
You also need to have a free gift to offer when you are at a networking event. I’ve just returned from an exciting networking event and was surprised that many of the people there didn’t have a call to action at the end of their 30 second commercial to entice people to give them their business card (and permission to put them on their email list).
If you have the type of business where most people will not hire you on the spot, you need to be prepared to offer a freebie so people can experience you or your products/services and to interact with you. This is the start of the KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST relationships you want to build.
Here are some examples of a free offer:
A free consultation
A recording of one of your teleclasses or seminars
A video of you giving your Signature Speech or Talk
And for you network marketers out there who have products to sell but not services, you can do a drawing.

I’ve talked to several people recently about speaking in their business, writing a book and doing a lot of other fun things to get more exposure, more visibility so they can grow their business and make more money. Many of these people shared BIG concerns about being vulnerable, being transparent, about sharing their story.
Most of them really didn’t know the key insight, lesson or message they have to share. They are not sure what their worth was and what their story means to other people.
If this sounds like you, I want to encourage to you STOP! Just stop for a second – stop and think about what your story is! Many times we are just too busy to see what’s right in front of us – to see what’s missing in our business, in our energy, in the way we comes across to others whether online or in person.
I can relate to this because I had similar issues in the past. But once I learned how to just be ME and be transparent in both my business and personal life, it was a time of huge growth for me. I made more money and acquired clients that were more suited to me and what I do. I’ve found that sharing more about myself, my life, and experiences has translated into finding more clients who are the people I’m meant to work with. Wouldn’t you like those kind of clients too?

I’m in Washington state where my in-laws live to visit for an extended Easter Weekend. I hope you’re doing something fun too? If you are not making enough money and don’t have enough clients, you’ve got to do something quick! The #1 most effective strategy when you need clients FAST is to go out and network with people, learn more about them and about their needs.
You may not be comfortable with networking initially but you’ll need to work on getting more comfortable so you can go out and network with others in person. If you want to build a business, you HAVE to be in a sales and marketing mode when you are talking to people. So do what you must to get over your being shy or uncomfortable when meeting or talking to new people. Networking is simply a skill that you can learn. Practice and you’ll get better at, without being salesy or pushy. You have to be able to work a room to pull out your leads and prospects, referral sources and yes, speaking opportunities!
My recommendations are:
Go to 3-5 networking events per week even if you have to travel to get there. You’ll find more people who are interested in you and what you have to offer if you meet them in person and talk to them.
Have an easy “yes” offer that is irresistible so people will purchase it on the spot to try you out.
I started my business initially by in person networking and following up and built it to
a high 5 figure business! I wasn’t doing online marketing at that time. But it’s still the most important thing you do today other than Speaking in front of an audience. If you are not networking, you are losing money!
Remember when you are networking to:
have a brief statement ready if the other person asks what you do.
ask other people questions – dive deeper into what they do. Then ask what their biggest challenge is (in regard to what you do). This will give you an indication whether they might be a good prospect for you, maybe a good referral source or if they are in charge of a group, they might invite you to speak to their group.
