Is your Email Marketing getting you the level of response you expected?   Alright… so I’m gonna get a little REAL with you here AGAIN… have you ever felt like “no one is listening” and wonder “why am I doing this?”

I’m talking about sending emails that is…and I suppose it could be other marketing strategies you’re doing too that may not be working too??

You see, when I started my business back in 2002 (yes, it’s been a long time), email marketing was pretty much the second best way to get a hold of someone. (phone or in person was always the best) It was so new and people loved it, they loved getting emails, we looked forward to it.

Now though, man you never even know if your emails are getting through the barriers! (I don’t want to use the names just in case it blocks me for saying the words!)  Too many bad people ruined it for the rest of us.

It’s upsetting because email sure is an easy way to get your message out to a LOT of people, right?

So… I get it when my clients tell me that they don’t see response when they send an email, therefore, why bother?

I know many of you have to be feeling the same disappointment when it comes to your emailing too?

So, what do we do about it?

Not send emails?

That isn’t the answer.

One thing I know is true is that we can never get too busy in our lives or businesses that we stop learning new stuff.

I’m a constant learner. In fact, I’m learning a brand new program all about monetizing your YouTube Channel and videos right now!  Yep, and I plan to share all about what I’ve learned from others who are very successful at it, at my next event in November.

I also plan to share some new trends with social media marketing, especially Facebook and a few new secrets about online giveaways, contests, and summits as well as how the event market is shifting too.

You never know what you’ll get at my events, honestly, it’s where I share my best tips and strategies. That and with my VIP clients or Live Big Mastermind, that’s where I go deep on training some of the best marketing and business strategies that are working for myself and my peers and mentors “right now”.

Because things change all the time. You constantly have to be on top of the newest thing. Not that we want you to go after “bright shiny objects”, that’s not what I’m saying…. but I’m saying that if you don’t take some time out to learn a few new things about how to effectively grow and monetize your business then you’re going to get left behind.

And… that also doesn’t mean you have to put in more hours working every week. No! I say no to overtime too!

There is a way to work less and make more…believe me though, I’m STILL working on this myself as I write this to you. I don’t have it all figured out either because it keeps changing and I keep changing…. there’s always more to learn, do, and implement. I can tell you that I’m having the time of my life doing it all. I Love what I do and you should too but I really have to work on what I consciously add to my plate each year.

For the majority of us entrepreneurs, it’s “slow and steady wins the race”. I get that a few entrepreneurs out there are really good at marketing and like to make it all “look easy” but that literally infuriates me to no end. It’s NOT easy growing your own business. It can be easy to learn what to do and do it but there’s a LOT to do.
16 years into my business and I am still focused on Revenue Generating Activities you guys…. every single week. I avoid making phone calls too, just like probably most of you. But you know what? It works. Why am I sharing this with you? To hold myself accountable!!

The difference is that I’ve since been able to build a really good base of revenue coming in each month so I’m not so stressed about money or making the next sale. It’s never easy though, I invest a lot more now. This month alone I invested $3500 in one opportunity that has turned into added expenses of up to close to another $3000 just to “see if this will pay off”. I’m relatively sure it will though, I just have to “TRUST”.

Last month I ran my book launch and spent some money there and on buying books. i also designed a new marketing brochure for speaking gigs, both to the tune of almost another $1000.

Money just flies out the door now (on really productive and important things) and I’m thankful that I have it to invest so I can get to my NEXT LEVEL. But you have to keep investing.. that’s the point here. Whether it’s your time, your money or your faith, it’s all investing in the betterment of YOU.

I really didn’t mean for this to turn into a big long rant or article; I honestly just got frustrated with my email open rates and wanted to express my thoughts and relate to what YOU might be thinking as well. 😉

So where do we go from here for consistent Revenue Generating Activities?

Well, I’d love to share everything I know with you about it all plus what all I’ve learned this year and last! The only efficient way for me to do that though is to get you all into a conference room and talk about it over 3 days.

Why do you think I keep adding more events to my calendar every year? It’s because I have more to share and I want to help you. I hate to see you struggle like you are. I want to see you be able to take YOUR business to the NEXT LEVEL and FAST.

One of my clients who came a little over a year ago to one of my events wanted to come so bad. (She wasn’t a client yet) In fact we messaged back and forth many times on Facebook about it and how she didn’t have the money to come. I forget if it was finally a phone conversation or just the fact that I was spending so much time trying to support her in her decision that she decided she could ask a family member for a loan to come out (she lived on the East Coast).

She was scared to death I remember. AND she was a HUGE INTROVERT to boot. Boy I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her at the event (and I did…. of course in a very loving way). Because she was so motivated to make that money back that she borrowed, when I asked attendees to share their “Easy Yes Offers(TM)” and taught them how, she stood right up and made an offer! She literally walked away with well over $1,000 in her pocket at that event; enough to pay back her loan. But what she got out of it more than just money was CONFIDENCE. And that is HUGE.

Now she’s taking on clients left and right and she’s even leaping out into uncomfortable waters once again by writing a very intimate story about her past in a book.. just so she can help other mom entrepreneurs like her. I’m so excited for her!

So, when people ask me “what am I going to get by coming to your event, Katrina?”. I just have to shake my head because it’s so hard to say. Although I’m a brilliant marketer, I’m not as good as some other experts out there who pull in 400 attendees into their events.

My events average around 50 people. But you know what? That’s the new trend these days! It’s about smaller, more intimate groups, retreats and places where people can really get the attention, the coaching, the insight, the breakthroughs and the connection that they’re longing for.

I mean are you really longing for sitting in a room with 300-1000 people? Do you really believe that you’ll walk away with tangible strategies and systems that will work for YOU personally? This year I plan on doing the opposite of what a lot of business owners are doing. I plan on simplifying my business. 

You see, a couple years ago I was trying to grow my business and a mentor told me to create this new product and this new program and this new service. And after a year or so of doing all of that and pretty much launching something new every other month or so, what do you think happened?

You’d think I would have made oodles and oodles more money, but sadly, that did not happen. The revenue came in small chunks and because I had so many different ways to buy or different ways to learn (i.e.: products, programs, services) my customers and prospects were confused and never knew which thing to sign up for so attendance in many of these new programs was not as high as I’d hoped.

 

Then what do you suppose happened? Yep, I got tired. Tired of working so hard to sell The Next Big Thing. Tired of constantly trying to reinvent a new thing that I thought people would want to buy.

When times were tough and the market was down, it seemed like this was the right thing to do; keep trying to find the thing that people would buy. But it wasn’t.

The best thing I could have done is to simplify what I offer.  Simplifying is my focus this year. 

I’m super clear on what I’m offering. how to buy it or sign up for it AND I don’t have to kill myself in the process. You see, what matters most to your prospects and customers is not that you have huge amounts of things to offer them but you have the “right” thing that they “need & want”. what is going to make them want to buy from you.

Here are a few tips on how to simplify in YOUR business:

  1. First off, figure out what your ideal clients and customers really want. Learn what matters most to them about what you offer rather than what you think they need or should buy. They will only invest in what they see they need and want, not necessarily what you think they need.
  1. Next, determine all the different ways you could offer those things to them. Could you develop a live workshop or virtual group training rather than deliver the information one-on-one? Could you design or develop a product, program or something that they could buy without any involvement of you at all after it’s completed? Figure out how your ideal client or customer wants the information, training or how they need your product delivered and make sure you offer it to them in their preferred manner, not necessarily the way you want to deliver it. I talk to prospects a lot initially about their learning styles and suggest products and services that I have to them based on how they want to learn or digest the information.
  2. Choose price points that are realistically in the range your ideal clients and customers would typically invest in with a little bit of stretching beyond that if you want so you have room to negotiate or offer special deals. Just make sure you also take a look at your overall product/program mix so that you do have some lower level offerings as well as some higher level offerings. If you desire to make a certain level in revenue this year then you want to make sure you have enough opportunity to sell enough things so crunch the numbers on what you’re selling verses how many you potentially think you could sell to make sure you can hit your goals.
  3. Finally, you won’t make anywhere near the amount of sales that you want if you don’t do enough marketing. Marketing is a huge term, it encompasses so many things and not all marketing strategies are good for all types of business owners so you do have to be careful which you embrace and implement. You want to give each strategy a fair trial period before you decide it doesn’t work but first you need to start out with a very smart, effective and consistent marketing plan. Your marketing could be simplified as well. There are so many ways to automate, systematize and delegate your lead generation, marketing and follow up tasks; this is something to really focus on if you want better results but you want to stop working so hard!

Have you adopted some business and marketing best practices?  One way to make sure you see better results is to finally develop a clear and consistent marketing strategy in your business.

MARKETING DOES NOT HAVE TO COST MONEY!

In fact, most of the Relationship Marketing that I do in my business and that I teach my coaching clients is of no cost to you. Many small business owners however believe proper marketing has to cost money so they just don’t even pay attention to do figuring out what to do.

Many small business owners also aren’t sure what to do for marketing or are confused, hearing so many options via free teleclasses, webinars, speakers and the Internet. You could literally learn just about anything you want these days online but that doesn’t mean you know what to do with that information or how to put those things in order of importance to help you market and grow YOUR business!

Instead of sitting in that boat of unsure or overwhelm, it’s time to learn some revenue generating activities that you can do every single day to see bigger monetary results.

Marketing is lead generating activities that bring in the prospects so that you can sell them into your products, programs and services. You won’t be selling a whole lot this year without diligently implementing these marketing and revenue producing activities. Many of them you will want to take on yourself but others you can delegate to a team member in order to reach a much broader or larger number of prospects.

In fact, a quick goal I always give my clients is to reach out to and connect with a minimum of 1000 new potential prospects or referral sources every single month. This can be done in various ways but if you’re only reaching out to a few dozen or couple hundred, more than likely you will not hit your goals.

Here are 3 QUICK Revenue Producing Activities you can do every single day to keep a consistent flow of leads coming into your business! 

  1. Send a personal message to 50 people you don’t know yet on Facebook or LinkedIn with the goal of moving the connection to the telephone for relationship building and to see if or how you can help each other. Do NOT sell in this message or promote anything. But do put your full contact information in the body. If you do this correctly you should see 20-30% response. I consider this online networking and similar to what I would do if I met someone new at a networking event in person.
  2. Make 10 follow up phone calls to connect with people in your database, previous clients for referrals or upsells, prospects for new business, people you just met and more. Have a goal to schedule a get-to-know-ya call as well as you never know, they could become a very good prospect or referral source.
  3. Write a quick, ‘how to’ blog post, article for your blog, or record a quick tip on video. Get that information out via your email newsletter, your blog, social media sites, YouTube and even other article marketing websites who could possibly run your information for free.

These three things are all FREE marketing strategies that you can do today even if you do not have a business yet or a website.

Are you frustrated with how little people respond to your social media posts? Are they not sharing your content, events, promotions and pictures?

Well, let’s face it, there are people on social media who are way too salesy on their pages and profiles or posts. Then there are others who do nothing to promote their own business online, which is a big mistake.

However you do want to find a happy medium to how much of which content to share and when online so you look credible, you look like an expert in your field, yet you aren’t annoying and pushy with what you’re promoting.

One of the biggest strategies to get your information shared more on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter or any of the sites really is to just ask.

But you also have to make it easy for the person or people to share it which is where most people fail.

You need to make it very EASY for others to share your content and posts online.

One thing you can do is write the post for them or post what you want them to copy and paste into a post when they do hit the share button. You write it in their voice talking about you, not as if it was coming from you. If you don’t do this, they may not know what to say or HOW to say it and therefore not share something because they can’t do it quickly. People don’t have time to look at an event page, or go to your link or website for information to copy that hey can use. That’s being very unrealistic in your expectations.

Yet I see business owners doing this every single day.

Another don’t is:

  • Don’t tag us in posts that you’re sharing just so they will also be shown on our profiles or pages. That is considered very bad etiquette and in my case will have you unfriended.

What to do instead if you’d like us to share something for you to our followers is this:

  • Do send us a private message with what you’re doing, the links to the pages you’re promoting or whatever info we may need to decide first if we want to share it. Then give us the copy to paste into the post we share including links.

Plain and simple, if you don’t make this easy for us, we won’t do it.

I absolutely LOVE EVENTS! 

I love attending events, I love hosting events, I love training at events, I love learning at events…in fact, I’m at a business and marketing conference right now! I’m in LA this week speaking at one of my mentors Rockstar Marketing Bootcamps. Craig Duswalt puts on a really great show at his events and boy are they a show.

But it’s fun to speak at events, be an exhibitor (which I am this week in LA too) and even attend events even if I’m not speaking or exhibiting.

This is the #1 way that I like to LEARN as an entrepreneur, it’s my learning style.

What’s your learning style?

You see, your learning style plays a BIG part in whether or not you will actually RETAIN the information/knowledge or IMPLEMENT the strategies and ideas.

Many entrepreneurs come to me in fact, either a couple years into their business, just starting out or even very well established. Yet they still aren’t where they want to be – money wise or growth wise. A lot of them come to me AFTER investing in some of the other programs out there, events, coaching programs, buying products, etc. Yet, those ways are not typically how THEY learn best, therefore more often than not they aren’t seeing the results they hoped to achieve. Usually that’s because they either aren’t sure still of HOW to do some of the things OR they just haven’t done them yet, maybe there’s no accountability?

What I’ve found over the years is that most entrepreneurs learn best in a small intimate setting (such as my events – they are around 50 people and NOT multi-speaker, they are all training and experiential) or via one-on-one mentoring. I’m back from the Ultimate Women’s Conference in Denver, boy was that a fun time! Did you see the photos all overFacebookTwitter and even Instagram?? I even was a guest on a TV Show on Google Hangouts while I was there! (here’s one of them to the right)

This is why I absolutely LOVE EVENTS! 

I hope you do too but I’m fearful that so many of you are hesitant to attend bigger conferences, invest in yourself that way or even get to enough small monthly networking events in your own area?
I’m telling you, besides speaking at such events, networking at them and really connecting with people (massive numbers of people!) is the fastest path to cash and more!
So many connections were made this week in Denver by all of us. Then I’ve been to 4 other networking or speaking gigs since then and it’s only Thursday!

I have a lot of different talks but I don’t recommend doing that for someone just starting out or newer to speaking. I recommend you stick to one or two talks that both drive into what it is that you want to sell in your business – that’s called reverse engineering your talk. There’s more to it but here’s an audio I did on How to Become a Dynamic Sought After Speaker if you would like to go listen. 

My goal is to inspire you to do more networking, speaking and events (among other things) but also show you HOW!
