Have you adopted some business and marketing best practices?  One way to make sure you see better results is to finally develop a clear and consistent marketing strategy in your business.

MARKETING DOES NOT HAVE TO COST MONEY!

In fact, most of the Relationship Marketing that I do in my business and that I teach my coaching clients is of no cost to you. Many small business owners however believe proper marketing has to cost money so they just don’t even pay attention to do figuring out what to do.

Many small business owners also aren’t sure what to do for marketing or are confused, hearing so many options via free teleclasses, webinars, speakers and the Internet. You could literally learn just about anything you want these days online but that doesn’t mean you know what to do with that information or how to put those things in order of importance to help you market and grow YOUR business!

Instead of sitting in that boat of unsure or overwhelm, it’s time to learn some revenue generating activities that you can do every single day to see bigger monetary results.

Marketing is lead generating activities that bring in the prospects so that you can sell them into your products, programs and services. You won’t be selling a whole lot this year without diligently implementing these marketing and revenue producing activities. Many of them you will want to take on yourself but others you can delegate to a team member in order to reach a much broader or larger number of prospects.

In fact, a quick goal I always give my clients is to reach out to and connect with a minimum of 1000 new potential prospects or referral sources every single month. This can be done in various ways but if you’re only reaching out to a few dozen or couple hundred, more than likely you will not hit your goals.

Here are 3 QUICK Revenue Producing Activities you can do every single day to keep a consistent flow of leads coming into your business! 

  1. Send a personal message to 50 people you don’t know yet on Facebook or LinkedIn with the goal of moving the connection to the telephone for relationship building and to see if or how you can help each other. Do NOT sell in this message or promote anything. But do put your full contact information in the body. If you do this correctly you should see 20-30% response. I consider this online networking and similar to what I would do if I met someone new at a networking event in person.
  2. Make 10 follow up phone calls to connect with people in your database, previous clients for referrals or upsells, prospects for new business, people you just met and more. Have a goal to schedule a get-to-know-ya call as well as you never know, they could become a very good prospect or referral source.
  3. Write a quick, ‘how to’ blog post, article for your blog, or record a quick tip on video. Get that information out via your email newsletter, your blog, social media sites, YouTube and even other article marketing websites who could possibly run your information for free.

These three things are all FREE marketing strategies that you can do today even if you do not have a business yet or a website.

What kinds of systems am I referring to exactly? It’s not necessarily about the type of software you’re using.

Systems are all about STRATEGY and PROCESS. Here are a few examples of some of the systems I have in my business and that I help others to implement as well:

  1. Marketing and lead generation systems – online and offline (there are many including ones for social media, email, speaking and more!)
  2. Follow up system after a networking event plus even from new friends on social media
  3. Annual content marketing calendar system
  4. Repurposing content system
  5. Sales process and system for conversions – online and offline
  6. Blog, video or ezine sending or uploading systems
  7. And there are a ton more, but these are some of the most important!

No matter what industry you’re in or which products and services you sell, you have to be a salesperson in your business. Stop trying to avoid selling.

I realize some of you don’t want to be too salesy or annoying in your approach but you may not be doing enough to even get a sale if you’re too worried about that.

Are you the type of business owner who:

  • Tells people you meet “If you’re interested, give me a call” rather than “I see you’re interested, how about we set up a time to talk about it?” or something similar to take the prospect to the next step.
  • Hands out your business card or brochure to a person you’re having a conversation with to explain what you do rather than talks to them or asks them questions to find out their interest level.
  • Gets someone in a free consult or free initial call with a prospect and then end up coaching them or giving them solutions so they’re “full” and aren’t interested in buying more.

There are a whole host of other actions or “non-actions” a wishy washy salesperson does or doesn’t do but those are some of the biggies I see with my clients.

This isn’t going to get you the success or revenue that you’re hoping for in your business however. You can be much more aggressive with your sales conversations and actions without being pushy or salesy. It’s very easy if you learn how and you especially learn “what to say”.

I have to work on this myself too, I’m not the perfect salesperson. But I reach out and invest in myself and to hone my sales skills often. Many entrepreneurs DO NOT.

The top questions from entrepreneurs are “How do I find clients” and “How can I make more money?” 

So how do you do it?  How do you continuously attract and find new clients, build the business that excites you and make more money … all at the same time?

Entrepreneurs get distracted with so many ideas and options that you either do nothing or you do too many things at once but none of them very well. This presentation will teach you ONLY what you need to know NOW to start attracting clients and making money.

Then once you’ve got your business into a smooth-running, consistent income-generating machine you can implement additional strategies. But if you don’t at least do the basics of what works and what will bring you results then you’ll just be spinning your wheels over and over again not seeing the income you want (or deserve!) and you may use up all your original start-up capital to boot, then what? Regardless if you’re just starting out in business or a seasoned professional…there are a few things you could do to Jumpstart where you are in your business right now and get more clients and make more money.

BUT…You may be making it really hard for people and prospects to BUY from you! (and you may not even know it)

Think about it this way…

  • Could there be people and prospects going to your website but leaving right away BECAUSE you aren’t giving them an opportunity to buy right away or better yet, get something for FREE to try you out?

  • Do you have really great products or services on your website but you don’t have BUY NOW buttons or ways to take their credit card if they want to invest today (without calling you first or emailing you – because they won’t)?
  • Do you meet people at events that want to sign up with you or buy your products or services today but you tell them you’ll email them later to manage that somehow or will send them a link to your PayPal to pay?
  • Do you have the approval to email and follow up with hundreds or thousands of prospects and people but you’re not sending much out or even promoting your products and services when you do?

These are some of the biggest reasons that you may be making it HARD for people to buy or even get more information from you!

These are some of the best tips I teach my business coaching clients. We all need to do these things for cash flow, and consistent revenue generating, myself included. You are no different I’m sure so if you need that jumpstart….you’ve got to take a little initiative to:

  • Make your business more systematized
  • Get your mindset to shift so that you do think to do these things regularly or
  • Fix your website so it will really work for you instead of just sit there and more

I’m so excited to be home from my travels….I have a few more in Sept – I’ll be in Monterey, then LA twice. This is a pic of the four of us from the eWomenNetwork Conference where I did a booth – remember that $11,000 big prize drawing I was doing? It was with these gals. Go read my conference recap.

My life is crazy busy right now with speaking gigs, interviews, telesummits and my own events and calls thank goodness I have a few assistants who manage some of this and a very sweet boyfriend who puts up with my craziness….it’s good but when you’ve got a lot of balls in the air, organization becomes critical.

That’s one of the challenges and the blessings when you become more known as an expert in your industry, get out more and have a bigger follwoing.

I’m not trying to brag here. What I’m trying to express is that it’s not always easier when you get bigger or make more money. In fact, you want to learn how to delegate, automate and systematize the things you’re doing every month as soon as you can so that when the time comes for YOU to be swamped with fun, exciting opportunities, you’re prepared.

There is NO better time than NOW to get yourself and your business PREPARED for what’s to come. Because when you get there and try to ‘do this then’, trust me, you won’t have time and you’ll do it all haphazzardly.

So, when I say I’m crazy busy, that doesn’t mean I don’t have time for YOU. Although that’s sometimes what people hear when they listen to me or watch me. Do you ever wonder how so many people go to an event and go home with dozens of business cards or contact information and you manage to just end up with a couple business cards to follow up on?

There are a few ways to gather more people’s contact information at live events without being cheesy or salesy in the process which is what I know most of you are worried about coming off as. This applies to you if you’re just an attendee at an event or if you’re the speaker or exhibitor.

3 Ways to Capture Contact Info at Live Events:

  1. Hold a free drawing and tell people about it either from the stage or in casual conversation. Make whatever it is that you’re giving away a digital product that you can easily email later so you don’t have to carry around a big gift basket if you don’t have a display table. Remember to tell them that everyone who enters will receive your free email newsletter.
  2. Give a free gift in person such as a free tip sheet of valuable advice on how to do something, one of your products if it doesn’t cost you a lot or a free recording on CD of you teaching or explaining something most people want to know. In exchange, remember to tell them they will receive your free email newsletter.
  3. Run a text message marketing campaign giving something of value when they go opt in via text and their phone. Then you can continue to capture more and more information from there plus give them other tips in a subscription manner via text as well.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas to go get more networking contacts this week. Remember, gathering more contact information allows you more people to follow up with and more potential prospects to have in your funnel that lead to eventually more sales.

But for the most part I’ve managed to figure out how to pick the right shows for me, think up the right promotions, plan out a good follow up strategy and design an effective purpose and plan of action for the events themselves.

I have all this knowledge and expertise in this area and I wanted an easy way to share it with you so you wouldn’t waste a bunch of your own time or money figuring it out the hard way like I see so many business owners doing when I go to shows.
