Sneaky Email Subject Lines

What makes you open an email? Is it typically the subject line or are there emails you open just because of who sent it?

Some marketers pay a lot of money to copywriters to create amazing and engaging subject lines. Would you?

Imagine this:

You have an amazing message or story to share. You write it all out very thoughtfully in an email. You know your message or tips/advice, whatever it is that you’re sharing will change the lives of those who read it. You know it!

Yet, no one opens your emails… or like only 10% of the people you send it to open it, therefore only 10% of the people you intended to change their lives, weren’t impacted solely because they just weren’t excited enough or tempted enough to OPEN your email that day.

Instead, they just deleted it or moved it to trash.

Out of the 10% who did open it, 2% of those people replied back saying how moved they were, or that you helped them in some way.

Isn’t that what we want to have happen? Yet with 100% of the people we intend to see our message, right?

Well, you can have better results with your open rates in your email. You can get more engagement with your subscribers, clients and followers.

The key is getting a LOT more CREATIVE with your subject lines!

 

Now, I am no where near getting 100% open rate myself, nor do I even have 50% open rate and frankly that breaks my heart because I know that so much of the advice that I share can change the lives of those who read it too.

All I can do though is keep trying to “get your attention.” Sometimes that means I have to get a little sneaky or tricky with the subject lines!

Someone complained about my subject line recently “This made me think of you”. It was sort of sneaky I guess… but it was given to me by the interview series host that I am a part of and I know they probably paid a copyrighter to come up with this stuff so I used it. Plus, I added in text inside the email to really show how I thought it would apply to everyone who was on my list. I changed what they gave me a little bit to fit everyone here on my list, I thought.

When I thought about this though, I thought maybe I should share a little about “what makes up a good subject line” for your emails… I’ll bet everyone could use some good ideas for this!

I feel that there are 3 ways to write email subject lines, and mixing the first 2 of these styles up is good (from what I can tell).

  1. Plain and simple – Say what you mean and mean what you say. This is what I try to do more often than not. But please don’t put “Here’s my Newsletter”.

    1. Book launch is today
    2. Want to schedule a call?
    3. Event is open for registration now
    4. 5 tips for better client attraction
    5. 3 ways to build a website
    6. Please take my survey
    7. Webinar on Branding is tonight 5pm PST
  2. Sneaky – this is where people are more vague in their subject lines to get you to be curious and open to learn more or ‘find out’
    1. Have you tried this?
    2. Want to know my secret?
    3. This made me mad
    4. Time to CELEBRATE!
    5. Last call! Deadline today!
    6. Great news…
  3. Lie – this isn’t recommended actually but do you see people doing this? They ask you to open because of one reason then try to sell you in there for something else that has nothing to do with what the subject said. Nothing wrong with making offers in emails, just don’t bait and switch people I think.
  4. And what about all those emojis!?!?
    1. It’s fun to see emojis in email subject lines, my system won’t do it though so it’s annoying… some will, some won’t, but I would use them if you’re able!
    2. Or you can use brackets [ ] or *** in front of or around your subject line text too, anything you can do to make YOUR emails stand out in the bunch that come through people’s inboxes every day.

Be careful though NOT doing in YOUR marketing what you “don’t like” as that may not work. You still want to do what WORKS.

Speaking About Love…

The other day I sent an email out about the expert series I’m a part of all about creating extraordinary love in your life (if you missed that and want that, click here). Some of you have extraordinary love already which is amazing and I’m so happy for you. A lot of you however messaged me back saying how it really hit you just how unhappy you are being single. I hate to see anyone being unhappy in their love life. Frankly, having an amazing husband like I do, is probably one of the single best things that I have going for me. It allows me to be more confident in what I’m doing, who I am serving, it allows me to be proud and bold in my actions in my business and with the decisions that I make to grow my business every year.

I remember when I was single and dating, and I longed for a loving relationship like this so badly. It was on my lines pretty much every day which affected my ability to really work my business the way it needed to be worked. I wasn’t as motivated, I wasn’t as confident, and I wasn’t taking the action steps that I needed to take on a regular basis because of whatever reason. Sometimes I was in a funk, sometimes I was just plain depressed, and sometimes I just felt sorry for myself and didn’t want to talk to anybody copy.

Getting more love in your life as well as money in your business are the two single most important things that I see us entrepreneurs need to focus on, on a daily basis.

Lessons Learned and Wins for 2019!

Hello and happy holidays!

For those of you who have seen my Facebook this week you know it’s been a very traumatizing week for my family and I won’t lie it’s been a hard five days. If you’d like to read more about what happened, here’s the post I made. There’s an update if you scroll down in the comments as well. It’s a little too hard to continue talking about however. Thank you though for everybody who shared your thoughts, your love, and your prayers, we really appreciate it.

In the midst of all that chaos and sadness, I somehow managed to pull the energy out and launch another International best-selling book! I’m excited for the 11 other authors in the book, many of whom this was their very first book, so to come out of the gate with an international best-seller was really cool for them. And thank you all so much who bought the book and shared it out for us, we really appreciate all that you did.

Then this morning, I was invited to be on a Facebook live with the Women Speakers Association Premier Members of which I’ve been a member of for four years or more (I can’t remember now).

We were asked to share our “wins” for the year things that we wanted to celebrate and even our “lessons learned.”

What I shared wasn’t what I had planned to share, it just came out. It was all about surrounding myself with communities of people who are full of love, friendship, generosity, and integrity. After all, that’s what really drives me these days.

I thought I would share in this email today a few of those wins, celebrations, and even Lessons Learned in hopes that they can help you in some small way.

And I would encourage you to look at your own “year-at-a-glance,” and see where you thrived, excelled, exceeded your expectations, and even stretched outside your own comfort zone. Celebrate yourself, you deserve it!

So, my big wins as I see them:

  1. Launching a brand-new organization called the International Entrepreneur Network and seeing over 140 people join within the year. I wanted to start this because I feel like I’m just not helping enough entrepreneurs. I meet dozens of entrepreneurs every month from all over the world who still have no idea what they are doing when starting up or growing their business. And they are so passionate but aren’t making the money, it breaks my heart and I want to help them. I want to help everyone.   2. I’ve helped 36 entrepreneurs become authors so far too, that’s super cool I think. I LOVE being an author and now I have 10 books – whoo hoo! It gets easier and easier to write or be a part of compilations the more that I do. It’s impressive too when you have one, but more than one is even that much more impressive. I love watching their faces when they light up sharing that they are now authors… and even Int’l Best-Selling authors!! Being an entrepreneur can get you in a lot more doors, book you more speaking gigs and even help you get clients!   3. Consistency continues to be a BIG thing for me, it works. Being consistent with my marketing, lead generation, follow up and sales. Being consistent with my message, my actions, my investments, my networking, my boundaries. Being consistent with my beliefs, thoughts, and ability to make decisions quickly and without conviction.
  4. I really immersed myself in a new organization that I joined late last year called Polka Dot Powerhouse. I really love these ladies, they are so supportive, smart and connected. I was so active, I probably met and/or spoke at chapters with over 300-400 members total all year around the US including being an exhibitor at their Celebration conference in Boston. I’ll be back this coming year too PLUS I was chosen as one of the only 6 Diamond Trainers for 2020!! Showing up BIG (and being consistent) really does pay off.   5. I got SUPER OUTSIDE my COMFORT ZONE this year and after 11 years moved my 3-day entrepreneur training event to Los Angeles in November. Now, I probably won’t do that again, not because it wasn’t successful, it was. But because my main goal is to “simplify” in my business and life and having a big event like that with lots of moving parts and “stuff” does not simplify anything, it complicates it. So, for that ONE reason, it’s easier for me and Jason (my husband and now AV guy LOL), we will continue holding the events in the greater Sacramento area moving forward. BUT LA was a good test in “trusting that it will all work out in the end” which is one of my mantras. It did. My 2020 event schedule is up now, registration for the Love & Money Live event will be open soon!

 

Now, for a couple lessons learned in 2019, beyond what I already shared in the wins…

  1. Put myself first. I just told this to a client today too, in fact, we created her a mantra for her 2020 theme for the year “It’s All About Me”. She’s the opposite of selfish, in fact, she’s negative selfish so she really needs this. I told her to set a timer on her phone for every four hours for the whole year. (hee hee) Hopefully she’ll do this. Then when it goes off, have her stop and ask herself: “If it’s all about me, what do I need right now?” That seems like a weird thing to do I know and that often? But for some people, they need that many reminders, they get off track with putting themselves first in so many scenarios and situations every single day – from business and clients, to loved ones to even holding themselves accountable. I’ve been focused on eating right this past year and taking out of my diet the foods that don’t make me feel good – duh, what a concept right? Sticking with good for me, yummy foods. That’s one way that I put myself first. Another is that I sleep when I need to sleep and I make it a top priority to get enough sleep. I haven’t been sick a day all year!
  2. It takes risk. This year I retired my husband from his full-time job so he could start up his own business. (I guess this is one of my WINS too!) It felt really, really good to be able to do that because he was SO unhappy. We took the risk to reduce our income to one in the household so that he could pursue his dream. Not only that but he invested big in HIS business too, entering into a mentoring program for his particular industry of voice overs. Is it harder month by month? Yes but it will only be short term. Is it scary to let something go like that for him? You bet! But he’s lived through cancer, a bad marriage, divorce and a whole host of other things just like all of us and he now knows he can refuse to settle, whether it’s in a job he dislikes or with people that aren’t supportive. It takes trust, faith, determination and a lot of belief that anything is possible. With the right supportive and encouraging people around you, you can do this too.
  3. Keep my distance from yucky people. What do I mean by yucky? The ones who when you see them or hear them, give you that sick-to-your-stomach feeling in your gut, that’s who. If that means I don’t attend some of the biggest conferences in the industry because of it then so be it. I can no longer be around fake or inauthentic people, period. It hurts my energy and it pisses me off to see them lying to unsuspecting people, and more. I can’t be around selfish people who care only about themselves or them making money off of someone without giving a crap if it’s the person’s next best step or not. I can’t be around people who ASSOCIATE with those people, period. This is part of the boundaries I’ve set for myself. And frankly if that means I make less money by not collaborating with some people then who cares. I’m here to help more people create happier lives for themselves which includes more love in their life and money in their business. Business Planning Tips for 2020

Ready for some Business Planning Tips for 2020?

What are you working on for your planning next year?

I have done a dozen or so big picture business planning meetings with my Live Big Mastermind clients so far since Thanksgiving and a handful more to go too before the end of December.  It’s that time of year!

I love, love, love doing these meetings because:

  1. First off, I get to hear how amazing they’ve done for this current year!! One client whom I just met with before writing this, literally doubled BOTH of her businesses, her private practice AND her non-profit this year!! Whoa!! That was super cool to hear. Sometimes I don’t even know where clients are at if they’re too busy to stop and tell me LOL.
  2. Secondly, I get to hear their fun ideas AND give them NEW or BIGGER ideas on things they can do and how they can tweak their business, marketing, systems, team OR how to get WAY more exposure for the coming year. 
  3. Finally, there are things we discuss, (like with my client last Tuesday) that aren’t always about business – we talk about their marriage, their health journey and even their kids and we develop plans to improve all of those too.

The video is about a half an hour long and it’s all content, so sit down with it when you actually have the time to go through each point and make out a plan.

I’ve been doing this for 17 years now and I can’t even imagine doing anything else. You see, I’ve worked really hard building my own business over this time and I still continue to invest in trainings and workshops and masterminds all the time. I know how important it is to keep “honing my skills” – especially with regard to marketing and sales!

I always say you need to “stay in the conversation” to keep up with what’s going on in the marketplace… regardless of what you’re selling or what industry you’re in. 

There is no magic pill to make you an overnight success, it takes work… BUT it doesn’t have to be “hard work”!

When you LEARN WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT and then you can even delegate some of it or systematize some of it, it is a lot easier on you (the business owner), and THAT’s what I LOVE to teach you how to do!!

Entrepreneurs Need to Stay in the Conversation

Staying in the conversation around being a successful entrepreneur that is!

I LOVE what I do and I LOVE supporting and training entrepreneurs like you, new or seasoned on what you can do to jumpstart your business, marketing, websites, mindset, sales, team and even how to generate more clients through speaking, writing books, hosting events, retreats, online memberships and so much more. 

I’ve been doing this for 17 years now and I can’t even imagine doing anything else. You see, I’ve worked really hard building my own business over this time and I still continue to invest in trainings and workshops and masterminds all the time. I know how important it is to keep “honing my skills” – especially with regard to marketing and sales!

I always say you need to “stay in the conversation” to keep up with what’s going on in the marketplace… regardless of what you’re selling or what industry you’re in. 

I remember selling door-to-door when I worked for the local newspaper. I’d go around to businesses every day trying to sell them ad space in the paper (yes, it was a popular and good thing to do back then). Some would slam the doors in my face, some would welcome me in and listen and others would say “I tried that and it didn’t work”. I could always teach someone something though about marketing and advertising if they would just listen to what I had to say… many times sharing OTHER ways they could attract new customers, even if they didn’t run an ad with me.

Either way, I was top in sales because IT WAS ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS and I knew it way back 20 years ago.

Before I worked for the newspaper, I had a few other Marketing Consultant or Marketing Director jobs and I also did even harder door-to-door sales… residential!! OMG that is tough let me tell you! I was selling coupon books for local auto service shops or restaurants and I’d only make $10/sale back then… my goal was to knock on 100 doors to get to my goal of 10 sales!! Can you believe it? $100 bucks per day is all I strived for back then…

I’ve had BIG MINDSET SHIFTS since then about what I am worth, what I want, etc. But it was the best thing I did frankly because I can take a NO like nobody’s business!! (A very good characteristic to have when you’re offering and selling YOURSELF.)

You know what though, that’s where I really learned to be more diligent with my day-to-day revenue generating activities! I had to be. I had to be assertive, productive, motivated, period; otherwise I couldn’t pay my bills or eat!

I find that this is THE ONE SKILL or learned behavior I guess it is, that I’d say 95% of entrepreneurs don’t have (but you can learn). They don’t take CONSISTENT DAILY ACTION TOWARDS MAKING SALES. 

Either it’s due to lack of confidence, knowledge, know-how, courage, time or frankly just motivation… some are just too “comfortable” to “get to work” like you need to in order to really grow your business.

Being Okay Not Being Perfect

Do you feel like you need to be perfect?

Well I hate to burst your bubble, but we’ve all got S**T that’s happened to us, even me.

We have stuff from our childhood that creeps into our subconscious, then we take (or don’t take) action based on those thoughts and beliefs all our life. All while we continue to get roadblocks (sometimes huge ones) just tossed in our way that we have to figure out how to navigate around.

This is called LIFE.

And whether you’re running a business or you have a job or you’re in a transition state right now, life happens. It’s how you deal with it and what you do about it or afterwards or when you’re going through it all how you react or don’t react through it all that makes you the person you are today and in the future.

We need these “lessons” in life frankly. There is NO way we can all be perfect so just realize that sooner than later and show your imperfections to the world so they know you’re human.

That’s just a little thought for the day as I share my own life’s journey with you in a quick, condensed fashion on today’s video – go take a look!

 

 

I could share hours of this frankly but one of those “beliefs” of mine that I inherited was that no one wants to hear about me which is why I always focus so much on giving value, content, tips and resources…

What does JUMPSTART mean to you?

It just came to my attention from the last email I sent out to my subscribers about my Jumpstart Your Biz in a Weekend event (I got dozens and dozens of people replying) that many have the thinking that: “I don’t need a jumpstart” because…

  • I’ve been in business for 5, 10 or more years and things are going good
  • I’m too busy, I don’t need clients right now
  • I’m slowing down and trying to stop working so hard I certainly don’t want to get a jumpstart
  • I need to scale my biz, not give it a jumpstart
  • I need an exit strategy, not give it a jumpstart

Well… great!! Those situations in fact ARE also things that I believe you still need a “jumpstart” with. At least that’s how I look at it, let me explain.

I have a LOT of clients who are in these situations, I don’t work with just new business owners you know…

I work with seasoned business owners too. For the newer businesses, getting a jumpstart makes sense to a lot of you, for obvious reasons I think.

However, for my seasoned clients we do things like: 

  • Develop more systems (online and off) to help you manage your business easier and work less in it but ON it
  • Create systems for more nurturing of your database for more referrals, automation, reminders or upsells so sales are made while you sleep!
  • Changing your offerings, raising rates or adding other income streams that are more leveraged perhaps so you don’t have to work so many hours to make the money you’re making – changing it up, doing things differently takes planning, strategy, support and even bigger ideas than some people may generate on their own.
  • Adding team members so you can do less yourself and have more free time for vacations, family or just plain working less with less possibility of potential burnout. Plus, having more team allows you to expand, grow, exit, franchise, hire a manager to run things, be a better CEO.
  • Upleveling or evolving your brand – creating a new website and direction with new inspiration due to change or something that recently happened in your life OR that you WANT to happen but there’s no room for it to the way you’re going. I worked with a fitness trainer once who was holding classes at a gym and also doing mobile training 1on1 and when we changed her business model to doing virtual fitness training and having an online membership and community she could actually stop working so much, she met a man and had two kids!
  • Upleveling yourself as an expert with a book, speaking, more worldwide exposure, hosting a podcast, developing a movement, hosting live events and your exit strategy even. These are things we often want once we’ve got a good book of business already but there’s no time to even think about implementing all of this when you’re IN the business day after day.

Being busy IN the business isn’t good if something does end up happening that could take you out of the day to day sales and client interaction, right?

What would happen if you or someone you loved got sick, hurt or worse right now? 

Would income still be coming into your business regularly even if you didn’t have to concentrate on it?

The “what if” Factor is real. Do you have a plan in case something happens? This is what a lot of seasoned biz owners are NOT prepared for – how to make their business run and make money if THEY did not have to be there every day.

  • What if you had to go take care of a loved one for a month?
  • What if you had to have a surgery and were out for 3 weeks on pain killers?
  • What if your kid/husband/mom/fill in the blank couldn’t work or got hurt/sick and it was just YOU to take care of them?

None of us are getting younger, more stuff happens to us and the ones we love as we get older no matter how hard we work at preventing it.

So much stuff has happened to me and those I love since I started my business – what makes you think nothing like this will ever happen to you?

  • I’ve been through a divorce and also another really horrible breakup with a boyfriend, that made it hard to concentrate on work throughout the whole process (for 4 months!).
  • My dad died and as an only child had to fly to his home multiple times, deal with all his “stuff” and settle his estate over the course of 12 months and $23,000, taking care of everything through probate.
  • I’ve had two total hip replacement surgeries – all in ONE year, out for 3-6 weeks each time, thinking I could work from the couch but not realizing what recovery really took out of me, wasn’t able to.
  • I’ve had a toe surgery another year, a really bad sprained ankle another year and now have knee issues (Oh and speaking is my main biz strategy, right? Hard to do on crutches or brace.).
  • My current husband went through cancer the year he proposed. We had to postpone our wedding a year and I had to spend half my days all week long for over 8 weeks in the chemo center cutting my work time in half if not less as I was a full-time caregiver. (Thank God he’s healthy now!)
  • My mom fell 3 times in one year and I had to fly to her a couple times for surgeries, and to get her set up with in home health care.

I’m sure there was more than that but those are the biggies… beyond that I’ve had multiple website changes and team changes that have cost me tens of thousands of dollars and months of delay in my marketing.

You seriously can’t wait to get more SYSTEMS set up in your business. 

Stop thinking that you’ll focus on this “later” because you’re “too busy or too ___” now.

This is just something to chew on and maybe a “reality check” for some of you too. 😉

I don’t want to see ANYTHING bad happen to you or anyone you love but IF IT DOES I want you to be ready for it. I also want to see you making a LOT more money doing what you love!!

THIS IS WHAT HAVING A JUMPSTART MEANS TO ME.

This is not a squirrel or a bright shiny object. Instead it’s what most people I see need, including myself all the time! A jumpstart somewhere…

Whether you are a NEW business or a SEASONED business, you need to be SMART about your business.

Using Printed Order Forms?

I was an exhibitor a big marketing conference in LA last week,  setting out my printed order forms on my table, and I thought this could be a good topic to share with you today. Printed order forms in this high-tech marketing world is a very OVERLOOKED piece of marketing collateral that many entrepreneurs don’t have or use.

 

One of the biggest issues with entrepreneurs when it comes to them/you NOT making money on an everyday basis is the lack of a printed order form and OFFLINE SALES PROCESS.

This is such a critical part of our world today, some of you may not have any idea…

THOUSANDS of dollars of my sales every year are made in person and on a printed order form. Let me share why you want one and what it’s going to do for you in your business.

Here are four reasons or instances where having a printed order form when you’re out and about locally or away on trips, is critical to either more sales, your sanity and time or both.

1) Instead of printed order forms, can’t I just use a Square or PayPal swipey thing that plugs into my phone to take money from someone if they want to buy something from me in person? Or can’t I just take cash or check?

Well, the answer to this is simple. If you take money these ways, you still have to capture/get and manually enter in the customer’s full contact information into your main database or email marketing software for ongoing marketing and follow up later – MANUALLY… that means it’s less likely to happen if you don’t have an automated system. AND… that is IF you get their full contact information in the first place!

So many people do not, they just swipe and take the money and move on or take the cash or check and let the person go. HUGE MISTAKE!! Those customers might be great ongoing customers too but if you don’t continue to market to them or follow up with them you’ll never find out, nor will you get any referrals because you won’t be “top of mind” with them. You must get their full contact information regardless is the main point here or you’ll miss out on future sales. When they sign the order form too, you can put disclaimers on there, refund policies and have other things they can check to “add on” and potentially increase your sale. The idea of the PROCESS however is that when you take their information, they give you their credit card on a form, then you can be in charge of entering that into your shopping cart yourself , even taking payments and then having the cart initiate follow up emails and messages automatically that you pre-write.

2) Can’t I just send people to my website to buy or sign up for stuff? Passing out my card, flyer or brochure?

 

Goodness NO! RARELY does anyone follow through with that! YOU have to be in charge of the sale, not them. Plus, don’t you want the money TODAY? It could be a week or much longer even before they go click and buy, therefore prolonging the sale. People are way too busy for this. YOU have to be in charge and make it easier for them to buy when they’re HOT and the way to do that is with a printed order form. Plus… when you do run into a potential customer in person and they are really ready to buy, even just after a 10+ minute conversation anything is possible…You can give them a “SPECIAL OFFER” to buy today or when they buy XYZ today, they can also get a bonus of something. Therefore you make your money TODAY!! Having what I call an “Easy Yes Offer” is a great way to make sales every single day. I teach entrepreneurs how to create their Easy Yes Offers and their order forms at my live events plus I give you templates too. It takes a little bit longer to explain what I mean by an Easy Yes Offer – I make people sell theirs at my live events too actually…come experience it for yourself in November in LA!

3) Can’t I just schedule a call with them to talk about working with me or what I have to offer?

 

YES!! We do want to do that all day, of course… however, typically a phone call is when someone really needs to have that conversation with you, maybe share more about where they are now and what they’re looking for help with, that way you both can determine if you’re a good fit to work together or not. That’s a sales conversation and we want to book a LOT of those. A printed order form however is meant for the quicker, lower priced sales that can get people to experience you right now and then you can always follow up with a phone call from there to sell them into higher end programs and packages. Maybe you have a book, a webinar or an event to sell today though, those are quicker decisions people can make on the spot without a lot of thought or discussion and why not get them to buy today if you can? Why not make money daily if you’re able?

4) Can’t I just pull out my phone or iPad and have them sign up online on my website in person?

 

Sure… however that’s very time consuming for THEM. You have to make it EASIER for them, not harder. Some of your customers may not be that technical either, so doing this on their phone or your device could provide challenges. In addition, if you’re in a room with a lot of people it really limits the number of people who can do this efficiently during that event. Oh and if the internet is not working or isn’t available then you’re really stuck right? I would never do this at my exhibitor booth either it just bogs up the flow of traffic and just isn’t a good use of time for anyone.

Finally, if you are a speaker, it’s just way more efficient to pass out printed order forms when you’re attempting to make sales during your talk or in the back of the room after your talk. You can collect them and go and enter them all in later ensuring the “follow up process” will run and continue automatically so you have less manual entry later.

Talking About Money

Talking About Money

When I’m talking about money, a catchy song from the 70s immediately comes to mind.
OMG do you remember that song….For the Love of Money? I had to ask Google… who sings the song with money, money, money, money…. MONEY in it… It was the OJays by the way! I didn’t even know the actual name of the song much less who sung it, fascinating… yet we can all sing along to that part, right!?

I was just sitting here trying to figure out what message you all could use today, what would serve you, what is top of mind with my clients right now and people I’ve met out networking, and they’re all talking about money in one way or another.

Hear me out…

You’ve heard the phrase: “Money is energy”, right? 

I also like:

I was just thinking that a lot of people I meet are fearful a bit about talking about money, about asking for money, about mentioning their pricing, about charging more.

Let’s face it, as an entrepreneur – you can’t be this way at all. You have to find a way to get beyond your fears and potentially get outside your comfort zone so you can talk about money and actually MAKE more money!!

This week alone, money has come up in many ways:

  • I spoke with two money coaches this week who serve women
  • I spoke with 3 new clients about their money goals
  • I spoke with about 8 clients or members of my Int’l Entrepreneur Network and my Int’l Speaker Network who need to make more money and get clients pretty darn quickly and we gave them tips
  • I’ve had discussions with financial planners myself and a real estate investor about how they want to help others build wealth
  • I’ve heard from a couple clients who had great money-making weeks!

So much of what I do and speak about is about money.

You might not have this much talk about money in your day-to-day lives and it occurred to me that this is why I’m sooooo comfortable talking about my pricing, programs, asking for people to attend my events and buy my stuff… is that I’m always in the conversation.

How can you get more in the conversation around money on a more consistent basis too?

I swear on my life that this will be so helpful for you to do, I promise over time, you too will get so much more comfortable with the money conversation that you won’t feel sleezy or salesy anymore.

You have to sell though. You have to market. You have to make offers. You have to have sales conversations. You can’t hide from this or you aren’t going to be successful.

One of the things I’m SUPER GREAT AT is talking through the sales conversation with someone, one-on-one or in a group and giving you THE WORDS to use in YOUR conversations so you feel empowered, confident and assertive enough to enroll more clients into YOUR AMAZING PROGRAMS!

I want to help you make more sales easily and authentically so you can impact so many more with your gifts…

Let me give you an example from one of my live events:

One time I had a pet psychic attend my event and she was an extreme introvert (maybe some of you can relate). I love getting my hands on introverts, it’s so fun! So part of what we do at my events is CREATE & SELL what I call, Easy Yes Offers. We do this in the room and I help you do this so that everyone literally has something to sell (to the room). Then people stand up and give us their pitches, right on the spot and then I say, “ok who wants that offer?” and people raise their hands, the one who made the offer goes around and either collects the CASH or a credit card, they make the transaction ON THE SPOT mind you, and the person is usually FLOORED with the fact that they just made $300 or sometimes even $1,000!!

Yes so the pet psychic gal, wasn’t really participating, she was just listening and watching, and I was watching her. Then once a bunch of people had shared their offers and money was flying around, I asked her to stand up and share hers. She said a polite “no thanks, I don’t have one”. And I said “oh yes you do… I’ll bet over half the room has pets here and you can work virtually as well as in person right?”. She said “yes”. I said “Okay, stand up and let’s see, what could you offer…”, we brainstormed it out right there on the spot, she was happy with it and spit out the offer (reluctantly) and boy if like 5 or 6 people didn’t raise their hands immediately to buy it!! I bought it too!! From stage I handed her my credit card!!

Did she get outside her comfort zone? YES

Was it worth it? I’d say so, it paid for her ticket and travel to the event!

What was the REAL lesson here?

  • That you have to SHOW UP IN PERSON sometimes, you can’t always just sit behind your computer.
  • You don’t know what you don’t know… well, until someone shoves you outside your comfort zone or teaches you.
  • You have to just ACT. If she had said an absolute no to me and not stood up, she wouldn’t have learned that she had a great offer for ANYONE, ANYWHERE and at any event she ever goes to. She can make money daily after this experience. She wouldn’t have made a dime. She may have regretted it later too, kicking herself wondering why she just couldn’t take the leap in faith and let herself experience this.

What are YOU doing when it comes to experiences like this?

Do you sit and wait it out?

Do you say, well maybe later, not now?

Do you think, oh I can’t do that?

STOP IT! You’re slowing down and even sabotaging your own success. You deserve more and you deserve it now, not someday.
