So many coaches out there preach that you need to have products in the back of the room to sell for residual income.

And I agree with them BUT only when you’re ready or they really won’t sell!

If you’re relying on the online products you’re developing to be your BIG breakthrough with revenue I’m sorry to break it to you but you might be sorely disappointed. Especially if you’re just starting out in your business.

You see, it used to be, when eBooks and home study courses and such werenew to the marketplace, they used to sell like hotcakes. Some entrepreneurs made millions on their expertise in their products! Those entrepreneurs are still preaching how easy it is to make millions with your products but now they have 50,000 or way more followers, do you?

These days, you can find so much out there on the internet for free, that less and less people are willing to buy what seems “comparable”.

The same thing goes for the online group programs, paid teleseries, webinars, anything sold online. You really have to have a pretty big list of folks who like, trust and connect with you to make any real money on these types of offerings these days. Or you can have a smaller list but they need to really love you and follow on your every word (meaning you get higher than a 50% open rate on your emails).

I don’t like to dampen the mood around these types of offerings or be negative as to NOT do them at all. That’s not at all what I suggest.

But I do recommend you take your time building these and not concentrate building them or creating them right in the beginning of your business.

Here are six reasons why your eBooks, audio programs, online trainings or home study courses probably aren’t selling if you have some for sale now:

  • You’re just not marketing it enough. You have to tell people you have this product and where to buy it. But you have to tell 1,000’s of people, not just a couple dozen friends or your email list.
  • You’re making it hard for people to buy? You don’t have effective systems to click and buy online yet on your website.
  • You don’t have enough prospects who are following you yet or who are on your list. Marketing and sales is a numbers game, you have to have enough potential prospects seeing your marketing messages in order to even get a tiny percentage of them to take action.
  • You don’t have an expert looking online presence. Did you build your website yourself and it shows? Is your site really not that professional looking? Is it hard to read or understand what you do and what you have to offer?
  • It’s not priced right. It could be too high OR too low.
  • Your sales page copy or the marketing copy you’re using to sell your products, I’m sorry to say, could suck.

So, what can you do about this?

  • Reach out to 1,000’s more prospects every single month – DO MORE MARKETING!
  • Enroll power partners or joint venture partners and other professionals that like and compliment what you do to help you promote them.
  • Continue building your list
  • Speak more to get in front of more prospects LIVE – it’s the fastest way to build trust
  • Focus on selling other things that people want from you, with higher price tags too so you don’t have to work so hard!
  • Fix your website, sales pages or copy that is there now attempting to sell your products.

I know this may seem like harsh advice or harsh statements but is it true for you? Some of you maybe not but those of you who’ve been told to focus on creating products first in your business to make a bunch of money rather than selling other things first and building your list, I’m sorry but you may have been led down the wrong road.

You can of course correct now if you choose to….
