Want to know when to start marketing?

In Part 1 of this article, I covered what marketing really is and how to jumpstart your business and marketing….

Beyond all of that however, where should you start marketing or building a following?

marketing-words-imageIf your goal is to generate cash pretty quickly then I recommend you start marketing in two areas:

  1. Your Database – This should be everyone and anyone you “have access to” or often termed: your circle of influence. This could be anyone you know, do business with, are involved with inside organizations you belong to and even your social media connections. This does not mean you go add them all to an email newsletter database however but consider everyone you know and have access to as potential prospects or referral sources.
    1. Depending on who they are and how you know them then, depends on the approach you use to connect and nurture that relationship. (or market to them)
  2. In Person – You’ll want to meet as many new people as possible and for most small businesses, that means getting out in person where your ideal prospects hang out. When you meet people in person, it’s faster to build relationships where they like, trust and connect with you. Online marketing and connecting typically takes a lot longer.

If your goal is to build the business the right way from the start and you aren’t in urgent need of making money quickly necessarily then here is where I would start:

  1. Building your online presence – This is where most people will go to find out more about you, your products and services, your company, your philosophy, your values, your team, and more. These days people will make buying decisions based on your online presence, especially if they haven’t met you yet in person first.

Your online presence consists of all of the following:

  • Your website
  • Videos of you
  • Your social media profiles and pages
  • Your personality online and what you post or write (or the lack of)
  • Google searches on your name or company name
  • Your reviews or testimonials (or lack of)
  1. From the online presence comes “What you’re selling” – You must make it very clear on what you’re selling or no one will buy much less request more information.

This includes knowing more about and doing well with:

  • JumpStartLogoCopywriting
  • Marketing messages
  • Your unique selling preposition (what makes you different)
  • Making it easy for people to understand what you’re doing, how to get information, how to contact you, how will what you offer benefit them.

I could go on and on here as you can tell but the point is to start marketing now.

Then if you’re not exactly sure what to do to market your business or get started building a following, building relationships and nurturing those relationships over time (which is crucial), then you need to ask for help from a professional.

There is way too much to know or learn about marketing, it would take years trying to figure it all out on your own, why not get a clear plan of action quickly from someone you can trust? It will help give you that jumpstart you want and need and save you a heck of a lot of time and money doing the wrong things.

Wondering why the marketing that YOU ARE DOING is NOT WORKING? It really could be the words you’re using, they just might not be hitting the mark with your prospects.

I did a speaking presentation on this topic a couple weeks ago and wanted to share the highlights with you on why it’s so important to figure out and use the RIGHT WORDS in all of your marketing, networking schpeels, website copy, follow up, flyers, business cards and more.

Learn more on this video on how to use the best words in marketing, then take some sort of action to get help with this if this is something that you know can help you improve your business and make a lot more money.

I offered a 2 hour business and marketing planning call for just $197 on this call, listen in and hear how to take advantage of that.

I also talked about attending one of my live events – I have one in Nov 2015 but will be doing about 4 of them also next year, 2016, so you can find out when the next one is here: www.LiveBigEvents.com

My live events are always a ton of fun AND a lot of attendees MAKE MONEY at them too (I show you how!)

Why do you want to use more freebies and gifts in your marketing?

Because typically it will…

  • Attract new prospects to your list or your website
  • Get prospects interacting with your content, your website, yourself so they can trust and connect with you faster
  • Allow them to experience you on a deeper level to decide if they want to buy from you or take the next step

Here are a few examples of WHAT you could create:

  1. Free Report – talk about or teach the top 3 tips on something, 3 keys, 5 biggest mistakes, anything how-to oriented, all of them are good.
  2. Free Audio – like the one on this page, notice that I am giving you access to a free audio training I did a few years ago and you can do this too. RECORD EVERYTHING YOU DO! You never know when you can use it again, gift it or bonus it in a package. Same types of topics as above.
  3. Free Video or Video Series – Same as above but do it via video. Get yourself on camera to really connect deeper with the audience and your followers, video will make the biggest impact because they can see you. You can use a combination of powerpoint slides, photos, flip charts, music if you want, testimonials and of course yourself; I do recommend putting YOU on the video though for sure at some point.
  4. Free Drawing – for some of my clients such as photographers, salons and spas, network marketers and a few other types of businesses you could run a drawing each month only for new subscribers to your newsletter. They can have the chance to win a gift certificate, free product, special package of some sort or cash even. But make sure it’s NOT just the chance to get a discount on whatever it is that you’re selling, that’s not a “freebie”.
  5. Free Service – for my salon and spa clients often times we offer a free facial or free massage. If you’re in charge of booking the business and providing the service this works, if not and you have your stations rented of course this won’t work unless each therapist or stylist agrees. You just pick one winner each month from new subscribers.

I recorded this call a few years ago and it was part of a training I did to paying clients in one of my previous membership programs. So it’s in depth training content, not just a fluffy teleclass audio where I go into much more detail about all of these ideas and so much more!

—–>>>> Give Me Access to the Free Audio Training Now:  10 Ways to Convert New Prospects Using Freebies

I wanted to offer this to anyone who is having trouble getting people to initially opt into their website or who needs to attract more people from in person events onto their list.

Freebies allow you to have something to give a new potential prospect so they can experience you another way – either usually in written form, audio or now video is becoming a very popular way to develop a freebie. You can also have a great next step in that free gift that could be paid or somehow will get them to engage further with you if they want to know more.

Most entrepreneurs need more than one freebie or free gift.

You may need many different ways and things you can offer or give to attract different types of prospects, talk about different topics or things they’re looking for and/or give them different ways to experience you – hence the audio, video or report. Some people want to read more, some want to watch, some want to listen. You do want to give people options or you’ll steer away those who aren’t interested in the ONE way you’ve given them.

In this audio I walk through 10 different ways to convert prospects using freebies in your marketing and your business. I also talk about what you could offer as a freebie, I give some examples that could give you ideas. (Oh and by the way….this blog post/audio an example of how to give a freebie!)

Here is the page to go to get free access to this audio training (you will be opting into my emails and newsletters too by the way, but I send a ton of great articles and videos to help you jumpstart your business in many ways, you’ll want this)…

In addition, this is one thing that I also work a lot with almost every single client who goes through any of my programs, live events or 1on1 coaching. I look at your website very carefully when we talk to find the holes and opportunities not only on your site and how to fix it to be more engaging and conversion friendly but we look at holes and opportunities throughout your entire business, your products/services, pricing, marketing, systems, team and so much more.

I would love to have a conversation with anyone reading this or listening to this freebie audio who knows you have holes and opportunities to fix and take advantage of in your business.

This is for you if you know there’s things missing in your marketing or you have no time to do anything about it and need to know the most efficient systems, processes and strategies to add, tweak, change or implement so that you can create a smoother-running, more profitable business for yourself doing what you love.

One of the biggest challenges for small business owners when it comes to their website is writing the content for it all.

This is why sometimes it takes you months and months to get your website up or why your site doesn’t do much for you when it is live.

The content for your website is such a critical part yet you spend so little time on it usually because you don’t know what to do.

I want to give you a quick guide on how to write better content for your website and basically for many of your marketing materials as well.

First of all, it’s important to remember that YOUR WEBSITE IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT MATRKETNG TOOL. You need to treat it as such.

When done right, your website can bring you more leads than you could ever generate yourself any other way. The key is to develop a strategy for your website and how it will fit in with all the other marketing and sales processes that you have (or need to have) in place. Then when you have the strategy, you add details that allow for more interaction, personality and functionality for you and your visitors including forms, opt in boxes, videos, links and more.

Here’s a quick 3 step process for writing content for your website including your home page, about page, all your services or sales pages and even your contact page or other pages.

First of all, you have to capture the visitor’s attention with a big bold headline on the top of EVERY page. Think about what the visitor is doing on the page you’re writing, be it the home page or the about page, etc. What is their question or concern in their mind when they click on it? Address that question or concern (in their words) on the very top in big, bold colored font. That big bold headline has to entice them enough to keep on reading. If it doesn’t, they could leave your page or your site all together right then without reading another word.

Secondly, the copy you write under the big bold headline still has to talk to the visitor’s hot buttons, what matters most to them and why they’re on your site. That means you want to still write about their concerns and questions, agitating their possible situation in regards to what you do. This is NOT yet where you talk about what you offer, do or what you sell. You still have to get them to engage in the copy more with the first few paragraphs of each page so they do feel confident that they’re in the right place, on the right site and that you could have the solution to what their need is or what they were searching for.

Finally, after you’ve interacted more, engaged more with the visitor in your copy and what matters most to them, now you can let them know that you have the solution they’ve been searching for. This is where you share more possibly about your expertise, your services/products or you take them to the next step of where you want them to go on your site. Sometimes the next step (for example on your home page) should be to just recommend they get on your email list and get your freebie up in the opt in box on the top of the page. On the home page especially is NOT normally where you want to try to sell them. The goal of your home page is to get them on your email list so you can continue to market to them in case they leave your site after that.

There’s a lot more to know about writing good content for your website but if you keep this formula in mind when doing so then you should see a much better response on your website than if you didn’t do this.

If you need more help with your website, copywriting or anything else in your business to grow and market it better why not do a one-on-one Business & Website Planning Session with me…for a LIMITED TIME, you can now do this for $197 – go find out what this includes and what other bonuses you get too!
