Have you heard about the new Placer County People (PCP) business community? Eric Lofholm and I are the founders of PlacerCountyPeople.com. Both of us live, do business and hold live events in the Placer County area.

Eric and I envision this to be a way to showcase the locals in Placer County by creating a virtual venue to host information about the local podcast we’re launching to feature interviews of local residents and businesses. We’ve created the Placer County People website and established PCP social media group as a way to publicize information about community events such as networking events, monthly live socials and business events too!

I know lots of people suggest you should be blogging if you’re not already, right? They also say you should post something on your blog at least 3 times a week, right?

blog bloggingIt is a really great strategy to use in your marketing but it’s ONLY ONE of the tens of strategies you really SHOULD be doing every month. You just need to find the easiest way to do more of them faster or in more of an automated way.

So here are some things you’ll want to know about blogging whether you’re doing it or not and then I’m happy to share with you too later on how to automate it more so it’s not taking too much of your time. Because the reality is that just the act of blogging alone won’t really bring in a lot of clients.

You have to have your blogging woven in and out of multiple marketing strategies, your website, follow up, social media and more in order for it to work as an income generator.

It does do many things for you however regardless, such as:

  • #1. You will engage your readers and prospects into conversations and action.
  • #2. You will build a community of followers, fans and supporters.
  • #3. You will be in more places at one time expanding your reach globally.
  • #4. You will prove yourself as an expert.
  • #5. You will reach people who don’t want to receive your emails perhaps; some people don’t want to read emails and newsletters, they prefer to read quick blog posts.
  • #6. You will increase your sales as more people read your articles and learn to like and trust you.
  • #7. You can manage it easily and quickly if you have the right systems in place!

What do you need to do though ON your blog to make sure it’s successful?

  • You must have an opt in box in addition to blog subscription option;
  • You should allow comments to encourage reader interaction;
  • You should have videos of yourself for more interaction;
  • You could highlight one of your products or services to get them to click over to your site and for more info;
  • You can put all kinds of ‘widgets’ on your blog to attract more attention, provide more interaction and even build a revenue stream.

How to know what to post and say on your blog to keep the content fresh?

In the meantime, this is just ONE of the hundreds of things you could be doing to attract more clients and generate more income for yourself so don’t get too caught up with the management of it on a day to day basis, just get something going for now and be relatively active to start.

Today I’m super excited to give you another Video Biz Tip – it’s all about plotting out your Marketing Calendar!

Are you an entrepreneur who is not sure what you should be doing every month or every week? This post and the video below is a snapshot for those of you who are not sure how you should be spending your time or if you are outside of your office and in front of others enough to promote yourself and your business. This is one of the topics we cover in my Live Big Mastermind and at my Live Events, like we just did at my “Jumpstart Your Biz in a Weekend” event a few days ago, see the example in the video. Just remember to plot your marketing calendar and BE CONSISTENT! Consistency is the KEY in a good marketing strategy.

marketing calendarAre you blogging consistently? What about Facebook LIVE videos – are you using this tool to reach the people who want to hear your message? If not, you should be. What about Networking? What events did you have planned for the month? And are you calendaring your Follow-Up after the networking events? If not, you need to start doing that. There’s profit in your follow-up. If you don’t know what to do, I have a system of techniques, templates, and scripts – everything you need to create your own Follow Up system that WORKS!

I’m back from my five day speaking tour in Dallas, and today, I want to share some ideas with you about creating content.  Generating content is a topic that is many of my clients and a few in my Mastermind Group are currently struggling with.  I’ve gotten many questions about creating content in the past week.

First, you HAVE to do MORE content marketing.  Some common objections I hear about generating content are:

  • There is a lot of content in the world already.
  • Someone may have already written something on a topic that you want to write about.
  • You may have concerns that people may not care to hear what you have to say on the subject.
  • Someone else knows more about the topic than you do.

 Creating Content in Your MarketingHere are my Tips to Create More Content

  • Overcome Your Objections: Don’t let fear that your content isn’t good enough hold you back from generating more content. Remember, there are billions of people on the planet and you only have to attract a small portion of that entire population to have them hear your message and buy from you.  Some people don’t realize that they can find content on the Internet, YouTube, Facebook, blogs, etc.  And some people may like your content more than others.  There will be enough people who will like what you have to say.
  • RePurpose Your Content – everywhere and in many different ways. If you write an article, post it on your website’s blog and have it scheduled to post on your social media sites, post it on LinkedIn Pulse,  create a video about it – just like I’m doing here.   You can also post your video to your blog on your website and on your social media sites.  There are many ways to have just one piece of content touch many in a variety of different ways.

Video Biz Tip: Ideas for Creating Content in Your Marketing!

If you are struggling to come up with content topics, I recommend you develop a list with the top 12 topics that would make sense for you to talk about. For example, if you are in the Beauty Industry, your topics might include: skincare, chemicals in products, hairstyles, etc.   Got it?  Now take each of your top 12 topics and break down each topic into 3-5 sub-topics because your main topic might be too broad to use. Sometimes you’ll be able to break down your sub-topics include 3-5 additional sub-topics.  This method will give you more options to create content about.

You don’t have to write all of your content.  You can record yourself talking about it and have it transcribed.  Once you edit the transcription, it becomes a form of written content.  I hope this gets your juices flowing and get your content ideas going.

Content IS king, it is true. If you’re not developing new content at least every month and then sharing it in many different ways to drive leads and traffic to your business and your website then you’re missing out on thousands of dollars in revenue.

  • When you have more articles or blog posts on your website, you will organically drive more traffic to your site.
  • When you have video tips and business tips on social media sites and YouTube too, you will get more exposure and you will have a farther reach for new prospects.
  • When you hold your own teleclasses or become a guest on other calls and radio shows or programs you will be seen more as the expert you are.

All of this doesn’t have to be hard. In fact pretty much everything I mention above here is absolutely FREE to do in your marketing. This article is not about showing you how to develop the new content, but it is about what to do with that content once you have it so you can get more exposure, traffic, leads and sales. 

So why are you not doing this more often in your business?

Usually what I find is that you aren’t sure where to get your content posted or how to get it out there.That’s assuming you know what to write or record in the first place. Content repurposing can be a free or low-cost and very lucrative part of your marketing plan if you do it but it does usually take some time which is why most business owners don’t do more of it more often.

Here is a simple 3 step process to repurpose your content whether you have written articles, blog posts, audio recordings, videos or other format.

1. Turn each piece of content into 3 different formats: Take your written content and read it into an audio recorder or free conference phone line so you then have written and audio content of the same info. Or take your audio content and have it transcribed into written format. Same goes for video, transcribe it to written format. Then take your written or audio content and shorten it to create short video tips or trainings. You can turn any piece of content into all three formats and then place them online in various ways for maximum exposure.

2. Develop a list of places where to post or upload your three types of content: You want one list of what to do with the content when you have it so you can be more consistent and efficient in getting this done. Plus you can even delegate this task if you want and all you have to do is develop the content but someone else spends the time repurposing it. Places to post or put your written, audio or video content include the following plus many, many more places depending on your industry or business, look for opportunities that are custom to what you do.

  • Your own blog or website
  • Your social media websites and profiles
  • Youtube.com
  • Free article marketing websites – there are hundreds of these, just do a google search to find them
  • Your email newsletters
  • Other people’s email newsletters, websites and blogs – do a trade of content
  • Industry or organization websites where you are a member or you belong – many online sites are looking for more content to place on their site to increase their standing and searchability
  • Become an expert on a related website that captures subscribers and members that are your target market. For example, Today’s Innovative Woman Magazine allows expert professionals to post articles and more on their website, creating a profile for you and other opportunities as well. Some sites like this are free to submit content, others are for a fee.
  • Send out print newsletters via direct mail and include previous email articles
  • Solicit print or online newspapers and magazines to see if they would be interested in publishing your content
  • The opportunities are endless!

3. Make sure to include trackable links or free offer links to specific offer pages on your website from all of your posted content so you can actually capture the leads: Don’t just post the content, make sure people can find you or click to go to your website with at the very least a quick author bio at the end of an article. On an audio or video you could make more of a special offer but remember to keep it evergreen, not date specific. For example, you don’t want a lot of videos, audios or written content out there that say “Sign up by March 31, 2013 to get this special offer” or after that date they’re not current content anymore and no one will click. 

Hopefully that helps get you thinking about how to expand your reach online and offline, on your own and with referral partners who you could trade content with. Trading content is a very good (and FREE) marketing strategy because you each then receive instant credibility via being recommended to by the person posting your content.
