I’m in the middle of teaching my Jumpstart Yourself as a Speaker Training Program right now and that’s one of the things I’m covering is how to get more gigs, especially how to search online for places and opportunities to speak or be featured. This video gives you a little snapshot of a few things you can do now.

And for those of you who don’t think you should be speaking or don’t realize how big of a deal it will make in your business if you do become a speaker then please go watch some of the other videos I’ve done about speaking, learn more…it really is the #1 marketing strategy most of my clients are doing these days to find paying clients.

What’s Up With Kat?

What a nice Father’s Day weekend we had. Although Jason and I didn’t have Riley this weekend, I still spoiled him with a date night, concert in the park and more. What did you do with your special “dad”?

I’m prepping for a new program I’m launching the end of this month….some of my clients have been waiting for me to do this….I can’t tell you just yet what it is but make sure you’re opening the emails!!

Speaking of emails…did you register yet for the free teleclass I’m having this week on speaking and next week with my friend Sonia Miller? If not, scroll down and sign up so you don’t miss out. They will both be recorded if you can’t make them live.

I know there’s a ton of free info out there but if you’ve ever been to any of my calls you know I give a lot of valuable content, not just the fluff. Sonia does too!

Also speaking of emails, are you doing enough? I know you may be tired of getting so many in your own inbox but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be sending them! Most of my clients are definitely NOT sending enough emails and keeping in touch enough with their database which is why I bring this up. You’re most likely not doing enough either I’ll bet.

Featured Product:

For some help with your email marketing, did you know that I have a great little training product just around email marketing? It’s called “Email Marketing Rules Have Changed” and there’s even a video on the webpage to share more about why you want to focus more on this marketing strategy. Go check it out (PS the product is only a $35 investment): Email Marketing Rules Have Changed

Finally, I have a NEW Business Video Tip of the Week – All About Group Programs (it’s part #2 from two weeks ago) – In this part of the video I’m specifically talking about the membership type models that you see out on the internet these days. I have two of these types of programs myself in fact. There are good and bad things about running this type of program to leverage your time more in your business, watch and learn.  Go watch this week’s short video training here.

Have a great week!

The second workshop of this series is happening tomorrow June 1st and it’s all about ONLINE MARKETING, WEBSITES, SOCIAL MEDIA, BLOGGING, VIDEO MARKETING & Anything Electronic or Techy in Your Biz. I have 10 seats open if you want to register and get this stuff “handled” or in place in your business.

Topics Discussed: web design and development, technology needs training, copywriting for websites and marketing materials, social media and online marketing to direct traffic to your site, converting and opting in more subscribers to your site, systems for marketing and sales within your site or backend, blogging, video marketing and more (this will be good even if you don’t have control over your website like in a network marketing situation so you need this too, trust me)

This workshop series is ideal for Small Business Owners, Entrepreneurs and Independent Sales Professionals who want to build a more profitable business but not work so hard at it.

Attendees will walk away with a better understanding of how to do the following in your business whether you have a business right now or you want to build one:

• Cultivate more and better relationships on all levels for higher revenues

• Network and market strategically to maximize your time and ROI

• Strategically plan with more efficient strategies for growing your business with more ease and less overwhelm

• Systematize your online and social media marketing efforts to reach thousands of new prospects every month

• Follow up and market to your database with more concrete, proven and easy to implement strategies and systems in order to see more consistent sales and growth

• Get out of the overwhelm you’re in or guilt your feeding yourself and learn a way to actually get all your follow up done including what to say, send, write or call about.

• Learn ways to build and manage more quality relationships with clients, prospects, leads, referrals and everyone you come in contact to – online or off.

The biggest mistake small business owners do is you’re trying to do everything yourself yet you’re no where near marketing yourself enough to reach the amount of prospects you need to in order to reach your big goals.

Small business owners get distracted with so many ideas and options that you either do nothing or you do too many things at once but none of them very well. This presentation will teach you ONLY what you need to know NOW to start attracting clients and making money.

Then once you’ve got your business into a smooth-running, consistent income-generating machine you can implement additional strategies. But if you don’t at least do the basics of what works and what will bring you results then you’ll just be spinning your wheels over and over again not seeing the income you want (or deserve!) and you may use up all your original start-up capital to boot, then what? You may have to give up your dream of being an entrepreneur all together and go back and get a J.O.B.

Stop stressing about what to do and how to do it in your business so that you can pay your bills. Instead learn easy and proven business and marketing systems to start, grow, run and market your business that allows you to attract more of your ideal clients who will pay you exactly what you’re worth (if not more) right away. Feel more confident and know that what you’re doing will work and bring you results.

We’re almost to the half way mark for the year and boy is it flying by!

I wanted to let you in on a little secret that I’m doing right now in my business and it’s about getting back to the basics.

Yes, you heard it here first….the queen of doing all kinds of stuff in her biz is still doing the basics!

Why? Because that what works! (in any economy)

You see, while the leveraged business models are still working, there are some business models that you want to spend your time on and some you ABSOLUTELY DON’T right now….

It’s time to ‘Get Back to the Basics’ of what works in your business, the types of things you’re selling, your marketing, your follow up and your overall effective work habits.

In the last few months every business owner I’ve spoken to has all had the same questions:

“What can I do that will bring me more business, nothing is working?”

“Where should I be focusing in my business, I feel like I’m spinning my wheels?”

“How do I get out of overwhelm? There’s so much to do!”

Well, you’re not alone. However there’s a lot of hypy sales stuff out there that sounds great and sounds like it could help you make millions of dollars but will it really work for YOUR type of business and YOU?

Can you risk it financially right now to ‘try it out’?

Most of you I know cannot; neither do I want to take some of those risks so I’m with you here.

What I’m suggesting is getting back to the basics, getting back to building and cultivating relationships with everyone you know. I know you know this, but I’ll bet you’re NOT REALLY DOING THIS?

No entrepreneur I see is doing enough personal connecting, following up, promotion and marketing and most of this little to no money.

You need the RIGHT PLAN of action to show you which steps to take so you can get moving – you need to do BOTH offline and online marketing activities these days to really get where you need to go. That plan needs to consist of many basics – its the marketing basics that will pull you through this tough time. It’s the marketing basics that I’ve been doing since day one in my business and will continue to do every year….because they work.

Basics of Offline Marketing Could Include:

  • Networking
  • Speaking
  • Drop-bys
  • Direct Mail
  • Phone calls
  • Advertising
  • Referral rewards
  • In store Promotions
  • Publicity
  • Live Events / Tradeshows
Basics of Online Marketing Could Include:
  • Social Media
  • Websites – professionally built and copywritten
  • Opt-in boxes, online offers
  • Shopping Carts, Email Marketing Programs
  • Blogging
  • Video Marketing – youtube
  • Article Marketing
  • Webinars / Teleclasses
  • eBooks and info-products
  • Search engine optimization
  • Web directories
And more on each really….there is so much one small business can do these days but how do you know what to implement FIRST!?
If you implement the above strategies OUT OF ORDER in your business then you may waste a lot of time and money without seeing RESULTS. I want to prevent that from happening to you….

Join me at my next 1-day workshop on June 1st all about online marketing and electronic media such as videos, email marketing, blogging and more.  (In April we talked about offline marketing) In this workshop in June you’ll take home a plan to implement all the online basics of marketing and business systems that you will need to totally transform your business. I’m going to show you step-by-step what and how to do the things that I’ve been doing and my clients have been doing for years to build and grow successful businesses. Find out all about it here.

Here’s to creating and enjoying the business and life of your dreams!

When’s the last time you looked at what YOU were offering?  Think it’s time to uplevel, change it up or even raise your rates?

I had one client once who came to one of my live events and I told her to double her rates….that next month she made double of what she did the month before all because of that.

It can be that simple BUT…you may need some supportive entrepreneurs around you to lift you up, push you outside your comfort zone and help you see your true worth in order to do this!

That’s what I’m talking about a little today in my new video…all about those high level, annual coaching programs you see out there called masterminds (or they really have many names and forms). It’s the type of program you can dive into, work through stuff, get a bunch of stuff done and make a lot of really close friendships with like-minded entrepreneurs.

That’s the kind of mastermind I’m talking about….take a watch to my video today if you’re serious about taking your business to the next level but aren’t sure if you can go it alone….

Today I’m talking all about mastermind programs and other group programs to join or RUN in my New Video!

Do you have spring fever yet?

I’ve been starting to get it….looking out into the nice sunny day from my office window, feeling the cool breezes in the early morning come through the windows and doors….it’s nice working from home but I’m going to have to schedule in some *enjoy* time in the am I think a few times a week.

What are you looking forward to this spring/summer?

I’m looking forward to some quality family stuff – I’m going to be meeting my boyfriend’s sister and her husband when I’m up in Portland mid-May. Then next weekend we get to do a Six Flags day out with Riley (I hope my new hip hangs in there all day for that!). And in June we’re spending some time in Tahoe with Jason’s whole family. (Tahoe is so beautiful that time of year)

PLUS I’m really looking forward to ALL THE SPEAKING opportunities that I have coming up! There are a TON!

Today I’m talking about some new and updated email marketing tips and tricks in my New Video!

Email marketing is still a great marketing tool if used consistently in your business with a clear strategy and plan for what you’ll say, send and when. Watch this new video and get some ideas for your own email marketing.

Many entrepreneurs wonder how much to share with their clients, and for good reason.  If you’ve ever wondered how much of yourself to share, and how it affects your credibility, then this article will surely shed some light on this topic for you.

When it comes to being authentic in your marketing and communication with your clients, you don’t have to share everything.  Sometimes, it’s not in service of them to do so. It doesn’t mean you’re holding back if you don’t want to be public with everything.  Private lives are okay!

However, being a little edgy with your sharing can really help your clients to relate to you, to know that you understand them, and to feel even more connected with your message.

Here are a couple of tips that will help you decide what to share:

Tip #1: Share things your clients can learn from

It is of great service of your clients to share mistakes you made, what you learned from it, and what you can teach them as a result of it.

For instance, let’s say you teach about how to maintain balance, and last week you worked 90 hours, never left your house, and didn’t shower for 4 days.  (It happens.)

A great article or talk could tell your clients something like:

“Look, balance is not always on an every day basis.  Last week I was in the middle of a huge project and worked super hard, but I realized that one week of “full steam ahead” would provide me with 2 weeks of lightening up my schedule.

So I finished my project, scheduled an entire day unplugged, got a massage, and curled up with ‘50 shades of gray’ for a few hours.  It was awesome, and I had accomplished a lot.  I celebrated myself.

It’s important to remember the first and most important quality of balance is to not beat up on yourself, know that at times you’ll get busy, and make sure to plan some down time.  Then, return to your balanced life the following week.”

You’re sharing with them that they don’t have to be perfect and give them permission to fall off the horse from time to time.  You can then, lovingly encourage them to keep getting back on track.

Tip #2: Share things your clients can relate to

Let’s take the same scenario.  You teach about balance.  In your “story” you may not want to share about the crack problem you had in 1983.  This has nothing to do with them, and what their issues are.

But you CAN share about how you worked 90 hours a week for a year, burned yourself out, had to learn the skills you now teach, and how it helped you.

Remember to keep your shares relevant, turn your “mistakes” into teaching moments, and be open to showing them that if you don’t do things perfectly all the time, they can still have an amazing life!

As a small business owner, what I’ve seen is that you typically could use more direct advice, feedback and training, specifically for YOUR business in order to know what to do and how to do it. You don’t need huge group programs where you get lost in the shuffle. Regardless if they are less expensive, trust me, it’s not the best route to go if you need to make money pretty quickly and you need to know where to focus to do that (i.e. marketing activities, website, etc.).

Today I’m talking about How to Maximize Your Money When Growing Your Business in my New Video!

I know you’ve got less money than ever to invest back in your business so you want to be very careful how you invest it right? I talk to hundreds of small business owners every month and most are wasting thousands of dollars in the wrong places, especially within the first 5 years of your business.

In this video I share the things you want to consider the “cost of doing business” and what you’ll have to continue investing in for the life of your business I’m afraid.

Go watch the video here now!

xoxo
