Running Facebook groups is my #2 marketing strategy. Is it yours? Are you doing it effectively? Are you seeing paying clients come from it without you having to be overly sales-y?
Running Facebook groups helps create and engaged COMMUNITY that fosters relationship-based marketing. We all know how important relationship-based marketing is to cultivate the “Know-Like-Trust” factor, right? Without your leads getting to KNOW you, LIKE you and TRUSTING you…your chance of converting them into paying customers/clients is virtually zero.
In this video I share a few tips on how I’m running facebook groups and how it’s working. I also share tips on what to post on your various Facebook pages and groups AND why you want to start a Facebook group or community.

** I wanted to showcase another one of my star students and amazing speaker and coach, Jennifer Darling. Jennifer is amazing at not only LinkedIn marketing but sales in general. She definitely gives some “super tips” in this article that I wanted to share with you here on my blog.
Want to Maximize Networking Events with LinkedIn?
Do you have a drawer full of business cards stacked in piles or put in a shoebox after every networking event? Not sure what to do with all those fancy cards? Do you pull them out of the drawer now and then and try to remember where it was you met these people?
Use these tips for maximizing who you meet at networking events using LinkedIn. You’ll love this!
1. Immediately send a connection request to each person you meet. This will ensure you stay in touch long after the networking event. I like to send a message within 24 hours of the event. Make it a standard operating procedure, you won’t forget, and your face will be fresh in their minds.
2. Send a private, custom message. Remind your connection where you met, and what you talked about. This is no time to get salesly, you want to start a relationship. Another benefit is having a history in your message box of when and where you met each contact, and what you talked about. This is useful for future conversations.
3. Attach an article that you wrote, or one you found that is helpful to your new connection. You don’t have to do this right away, you can do it in a follow up message. It shows that you are interested in supporting their businesses and gives value.
4. Make an introduction. It’s really great when you meet someone and can bring them value by making an introduction to someone they need to meet. It could be they’re looking for an accountant, a business coach, or an insurance person. Make this connection and everyone wins.
5. Endorse your connections. Endorsements help connections increase their credibility in the field they work in. It’s different than a recommendation which is another word for testimonial, I do not recommend this unless you’ve actually worked together. An endorsement is appropriate.
If you want to build influence and maximize the connections you meet, using LinkedIn is one of the best ways you can make this happen. It’s easy and it’s impressive. Stand out from the rest of the crowd and use LinkedIn to grow your relationship.
If you don’t have a customer relations management system (and even if you do) and, you didn’t ask permission for your connections to be added to your email marketing list, this is an excellent system for you to manage with ease.

** Note: I’m sharing this article from one of my Live Big Mastermind clients, Barbara Ingrassia with Manage Copyright, because it’s very timely and important for you to know when shooting family fun photos and videos this summer.
Ah Summer! Time for picnics, reunions, family gatherings in the back yard, weddings, anniversary parties, birthday parties, travel. Time for creating special memories. Shooting pictures, videos, etc.
And we want to share those with others, don’t we? It’s so easy. There’s Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
You might be:
Taking a Group Photo
Scanning the people attending the event
Recording dancing at a wedding
Recording Uncle Charley making funny faces
Singing “Happy Birthday”
Recording remarks by the “Guests of Honor”
Here are some tips to keep in mind for safely sharing those special memories:
✓ Don’t share what you wouldn’t want your grandparents (or boss or future boss) to see. Once it’s out there, it’s out there.
✓ Make sure everyone is onboard with sharing on social media.
✓ Not everyone likes to be “out there.” Respect their privacy. Don’t “tag” without their OK.
✓ (Another thing about sharing: The person who takes the photo/shoots the video owns the copyrights to those, but when you post to social media, you are granting the platform a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute such Content in any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed). This license authorizes the platform to make your Content available to the rest of the world and to let others do the same. (You won’t be compensated.) Yup, it says that in the Terms and Conditions of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. And by using the site, you have agreed to those Terms.)
✓ Is there music playing? Even if it’s in the background and not important to the subject of the video, social media platforms have automated systems that can detect copyrighted content. Your video may be rejected or the audio suppressed. This can happen even with live video. If the automated systems don’t catch it, the copyright owner may still manually submit a DMCA take down request. The vast majority of recordings were made after 1923, so they are still protected by copyright. Bummer!
✓ BUT do go ahead and sing a boisterous and energetic “Happy Birthday To You” without fear (depending on the quality of your singing, of course. )
✓ What’s in the background of your shots/videos? Take a quick look for prominent copyrighted images or trademark logos, videos, movies, etc. Consider repositioning the shot if you can without losing the moment. While this might not be as much of an issue as music, IT DEPENDS. Some rights holders can be very protective.
BUT DO CREATE THOSE SPECIAL MEMORIES. Just remember to:
I’ll bet you’re making at least one of these 4 social media mistakes and either pissing people off or missing out on leads and opportunities!
Listen in to my video tip today for some helpful dos and don’ts all about social media. What’s good social media etiquette online and definitely what will get you marked as a spammer and possibly unfriended or blocked!
I see so many people using social media for their crazy sales strategies that are NOT doing them any favor. Just like you don’t want to be “that guy” or “that girl” at the networking event that is shoving your card in people’s faces and then walking away… you do NOT want to be that person on social media sites. You can get a bad reputation just the same.
One of my biggest pet peeves I’ll share in the body of this blog post, then you have to watch the video for others, is: when people tag me in posts that clearly have NOTHING to do with me and they get their post featured on my profile wall. ANNOYING to say the least!! Do not do this.
If you want my attention (or someone’s attention that you care about), you cannot do this, we will eventually BLOCK you or unfriend you if you continue. Pay attention and take the time to get to know me, engage with me and then ask me to support you if that’s what your goal is. But don’t force me to support you by tagging me. ARGH!!

Here’s to Creating & Enjoying a life and business full of lots more Love & Money!
I see hundreds of business owners wasting hours of time each week on social media that I just want to cut to the chase.
If you’re looking to get paying clients from your efforts on social media websites and also get more people signed up on your email newsletter or to your website from your efforts on social media websites then these are:
The Top 8 “Productive” Things to Do On Social Media for Business
Snap – Snap photos of yourself, family, kids, vacation, pet and wherever you go and then upload them so your followers and friends can get to know you better.
Share – Share other people’s posts, pictures, promotions or quotes to give them social credit and you a good reputation for being generous and supportive online.
Educate – Educate your followers and friends on things you are an expert in. It could be business related or any fun facts, information and more. They will look to you as more of an expert and refer you business too if you share really good stuff!
Proclaim – Proclaim fun new things going on with you in your life, or your goals in business even and others will hold you accountable but also cheer you on.
Engage – Comment on as many other posts you can that are relevant. For business topics, share your expertise, give free advice, resources and more; don’t hold back and people will take notice and refer you more or recommend you to their friends because you show so much generosity.
Connect – Connect on a deeper level with as many people as you can also. Don’t just like their page or add them as a friend or connection, send them a private message, find out more about them and what they do.
Converse – Take the online conversation to the next level. Suggest talking on the phone or meeting in person if you’re local to build a stronger relationship, become referral sources, collaborate or even do business.
Have fun – Have fun with it but don’t waste too much time if you’re in business, get to the heart of the connection, take it to a conversation and see if or how you can help each other. Have fun by sharing fun images, quotes or things that really express your personality too!
It can be this simple.
Yet most entrepreneurs are just posting and maybe commenting on things….you’re not engaging others to your fullest extent. That is the big mistake.

Do you realize that developing content for your business is a crucial aspect of marketing?
If so and it’s relatively easy for you to develop content, then great.
But if you didn’t know this or have trouble coming up with what to write or post or record then here’s a quick tip for you that I do occasionally when I run out of time to write up an article for my newsletter or record a quick tip for my Biz Tip Videos on YouTube.
I guess, first of all, I should explain how important it is to even write or develop content in the first place. Doing this whether it’s audio, video or written content is good to drive more traffic to your website first off.
You want to post this information or link it to your site somehow, you want to post videos on a YouTube Channel, post articles on your blog and then even find places to submit your content to also such as this magazine or other online websites and media. You can be an expert contributor to this magazine or something similar in your industry, just look around for what’s available to you in your marketplace.
So the tip is to develop a question around what you want to create content about, a bigger subject or a niche theme. You then post that question on your Facebook personal profile or your business page or both to see what the comments are and to spark dialog and interaction with those following you.
For example, I wrote another article recently from a question I posted one day that got over 45 comments on it. The question was: What do you do when you get “in a funk” (you know what I mean…), how do you “snap yourself out of it” or do you?
The advice and recommendations started pouring in immediately. Notice that it wasn’t a business-oriented question or something that pertained exactly to what I do. But I do experience many clients and small business owners who get into funks and it’s hard to coach them unless I can help them snap out of it. So in that sense, it was relevant.
The day I posted that question was the day I was thinking about recording a video for my email newsletter on this same topic but I was trying to come up with the 6, 7 or 8 ways to share. I obviously had a few ways I would share or suggest in that video of things to help people get out of a funk but when I looked at the responses from the question, there were over 20 different ideas and ways to get out of a funk from all the people who commented on the post.
Within an hour of posting that question on Facebook, I had an article written about that topic, I posted it as a blog post on my blog, I had recorded a video on it, uploaded the video to my YouTube channel and then sent the video out with a link to it and the blog post too out in an email newsletter. Amazing!
You can do this too! It’s this simple.
What kinds of questions do you ask?
Well, you’ll have to try it and see but what I find is that open ended questions of course are always better and give you more “meat” to work with, rather than yes or no questions. Make them NON-business oriented too if you can if you want even more response! The questions I ask about, what people need to jumpstart their business or which marketing strategies do they want to learn more about, unfortunately hardly get any response.
We want responses, comments and personal interaction on Facebook and other social media sites. Try this and see what happens!
