I know I tend to be a little blunt now and then but come on…. why would you ignore or hide your head in the sand or NOT want to learn everything you could about a very important business and marketing tool that can make your life easier!?!?!

I see so many people using social media for their crazy sales strategies that are NOT doing them any favor. Just like you don’t want to be “that guy” or “that girl” at the networking event that is shoving your card in people’s faces and then walking away… you do NOT want to be that person on social media sites. You can get a bad reputation just the same.
One of my biggest pet peeves I’ll share in the body of this blog post, then you have to watch the video for others, is: when people tag me in posts that clearly have NOTHING to do with me and they get their post featured on my profile wall. ANNOYING to say the least!! Do not do this.
If you want my attention (or someone’s attention that you care about), you cannot do this, we will eventually BLOCK you or unfriend you if you continue. Pay attention and take the time to get to know me, engage with me and then ask me to support you if that’s what your goal is. But don’t force me to support you by tagging me. ARGH!!

I have. In fact I almost did it this week!
Email is supposed to be the most effective way to share with your subscribers, customers and prospects BUT everyone is on too many lists these days, including you probably, and we barely see probably 20% of what comes in.
It’s true, email is very effective for those who read them BUT it’s very ineffective for those who aren’t even seeing all the great stuff you have to offer and that’s a shame.
So, what do you do as a passionate business owner trying to inspire thousands of people with your gifts and talents?
You see, it’s critical these days that you do more than email or social media to market to clients and prospects.
Many business owners though try not to spend money to attain new leads so this is all they do. But you’re still not seeing big monetary results.
There are a lot of things you can do that are free or very low cost to market your business but you just may not know what those are.
Email marketing however cannot be the only thing you do to keep in touch with your list, clients or prospects.
You’ve got to find a way to get more contact information for your prospects, like phone number and mailing address.
In this digital age you want to stand out and be different and really the best way to do that is to just pick up the phone and send a few mailings. Seriously, what has worked for hundreds of years for business-building still works and actually it works better than email.
Now, I mentioned social media here too, and social media can be done if you’re doing the right things online; otherwise you could just be wasting time posting without a clear strategy.
So basically, you need to do all of this plus much more, and on a regular basis too, if you want to see clear, consistent cash flow and customers.
What to do about your email marketing?
Well, here are a few tips to help increase your email open rate as best you can:
1. Brainstorm on some really enticing and attention getting subject lines – this is a big part of why people aren’t opening.
2. Deliver really good content – articles, tips, videos, audios and more.
3. Get personal with your list – the more they know about you, the more likely they’ll want to see what’s up with you each time you email.
4. And of course, make sure you have permission to email them in the first place – don’t be a spammer. (If you aren’t sure of the laws, educate yourself!)
Keep in touch with your prospects, clients and your entire database regularly in many different ways for best success.
Reach out for training if you aren’t sure what to do or if you’re afraid you just don’t know enough about marketing. Marketing and sales are the two single most important things to keep sharpening your saw about in order to really grow your business.

First of all, holding your own teleclasses & webinars gets you in front of dozens if not hundreds of potential prospects all at one time therefore extremely leveraging your time
It allows you the opportunity in many cases to make an offer from the platform you’re on due to the increased like-trust-connect factor of your participants
When you market these types of calls and presentations you have the opportunity to reach potential prospects around the world, not just in your local area
Teleclasses & webinars (if done well and include the right content) can increase your visibility and exposure on your online platforms and social media as well as position you more as an expert in your field
Why the majority of entrepreneurs DO NOT HOLD THEIR OWN Teleclasses & Webinars:
Fear of the unknown

First, plot out the topics you could cover in such a manner
Make sure those topics are what your target prospects want to hear more about by possibly surveying them or asking
Next, plot out the dates and times you will hold your events and choose which options are right for you – teleclasses, webinars, Google Hangouts, other?
Write out the topic description and come up with a hooky title (DO NOT DEVELOP THE ENTIRE PRESENTATION AT THIS TIME!)
Thirdly, learn a little about the technology and what you’ll need to effectively host your own teleclass or webinar and how you will present it online for prospects to enroll in your class and get on your email list in the process
Next, get up a registration page and process in place to take registrations, getting people on your list
Fourth, start marketing the event anywhere and everywhere you can think of – online and offline (see me for a full marketing plan if you aren’t sure!)
And finally, now you build out your content, once you know people are coming and you need to deliver – there is a specific way to lay out your content, putting certain things in the intro, the middle and the close or you may not see people stick around until the end or take the action you want them to take.
Oh and don’t forget to REMIND attendees to come to the call! People always forget that step!

Do you realize that developing content for your business is a crucial aspect of marketing?
If so and it’s relatively easy for you to develop content, then great.
But if you didn’t know this or have trouble coming up with what to write or post or record then here’s a quick tip for you that I do occasionally when I run out of time to write up an article for my newsletter or record a quick tip for my Biz Tip Videos on YouTube.
I guess, first of all, I should explain how important it is to even write or develop content in the first place. Doing this whether it’s audio, video or written content is good to drive more traffic to your website first off.
You want to post this information or link it to your site somehow, you want to post videos on a YouTube Channel, post articles on your blog and then even find places to submit your content to also such as this magazine or other online websites and media. You can be an expert contributor to this magazine or something similar in your industry, just look around for what’s available to you in your marketplace.
So the tip is to develop a question around what you want to create content about, a bigger subject or a niche theme. You then post that question on your Facebook personal profile or your business page or both to see what the comments are and to spark dialog and interaction with those following you.
For example, I wrote another article recently from a question I posted one day that got over 45 comments on it. The question was: What do you do when you get “in a funk” (you know what I mean…), how do you “snap yourself out of it” or do you?
The advice and recommendations started pouring in immediately. Notice that it wasn’t a business-oriented question or something that pertained exactly to what I do. But I do experience many clients and small business owners who get into funks and it’s hard to coach them unless I can help them snap out of it. So in that sense, it was relevant.
The day I posted that question was the day I was thinking about recording a video for my email newsletter on this same topic but I was trying to come up with the 6, 7 or 8 ways to share. I obviously had a few ways I would share or suggest in that video of things to help people get out of a funk but when I looked at the responses from the question, there were over 20 different ideas and ways to get out of a funk from all the people who commented on the post.
Within an hour of posting that question on Facebook, I had an article written about that topic, I posted it as a blog post on my blog, I had recorded a video on it, uploaded the video to my YouTube channel and then sent the video out with a link to it and the blog post too out in an email newsletter. Amazing!
You can do this too! It’s this simple.
What kinds of questions do you ask?
Well, you’ll have to try it and see but what I find is that open ended questions of course are always better and give you more “meat” to work with, rather than yes or no questions. Make them NON-business oriented too if you can if you want even more response! The questions I ask about, what people need to jumpstart their business or which marketing strategies do they want to learn more about, unfortunately hardly get any response.
We want responses, comments and personal interaction on Facebook and other social media sites. Try this and see what happens!
