Lead generation includes online and offline lead generation. Do you think about the number of leads you need every month? That a big mistake I see others making – they just aren’t connecting with enough new prospects, new leads every month. They are relying on their current list of people to take action and buy from.
Many business owners are not effective in their lead generation, follow-up and sales. And, they are not making enough money. So you have to start thinking about lead generation and learn to be persistent with your efforts.

So you HAVE to generate leads, no matter what business you are in, to make more money in your business.

Creating and promoting your own teleseminars or webinars every month in your small business could be the #1 lead generating strategy that works for you this year. I recommend you consider adding this.
This can be a very quick way to get introduced to thousands of people and prospects in your target market. It’s relatively easy to create a teleseminar or webinar and get it out there to the masses. Here’s a quick system for doing this every single month consistently to be seen, heard and known more in your business.
STEP 1: Develop the idea for what you’ll speak or present on: What does your ideal target market want to learn more about that you can present on? Choose something they want to learn, not necessarily something you know they need to learn. Determine if you need to show visuals during your presentation or not which means you would want to do a webinar verses a teleseminar. Doing a teleclass or teleseminar is easier to start with.
Note: Test the waters first if you’re not sure what topic to present on. Post a few comments or questions to your friends and followers on social media or conduct a survey to your email subscriber list or just call a few key clients and ask them.
STEP 2: Create the page on your website where you’ll drive people to opt in to get access to your teleseminar or webinar. The main reason we want to do these is to get more subscribers to our email newsletter list so you do want to make people opt in somehow. If you don’t have a shopping cart hooked up to your website or an email marketing service to make adding that opt in box functionality easy then you can use forms and plug-ins on WordPress if your site if built on WordPress. If you don’t yet have a site or you’re finding this step difficult, reach out and email me and let me find a solution for you so this doesn’t get you stuck.
STEP 3: Choosing when to do this and how far out to give yourself for proper promotion is a very important aspect of being successful with this type of marketing strategy. I typically recommend choosing your date at least two to three weeks after you know your opt in page will be ready to promote to give yourself enough time to get enough signups. The day and time of your presentation doesn’t matter as much as it used to although you do want to take into account specific needs and characteristics of your target market. For example, are they home and busy with kids early mornings or mid-afternoons or do they hold a job still from 9-5? You may want to think about those things before choosing your time of day and week.
STEP 4: The Set Up. Which technology will you use? Conference lines are free for most calls you’ll do verses most webinar services cost money. Setting up emails to inform and remind registrants of the call in information. I recommend you remind them a few times prior to the event as well as follow up with them a few times afterwards to make sure they take advantage of your offer or at least listen in to the replay if you’re offering it. This is where a lot of people fail; they don’t do hardly any follow up after the presentation if they do any at all. This is where the majority of my sales take place; it’s in the follow up.
STEP 5: Start telling people about your event – MARKET IT LIKE CRAZY! I’m going to share more marketing and promotion tips in Part 2 of this article, check back in a week or so to find out more!

As a seasoned networker who built my multiple six figure coaching business initially by networking and follow up, I had to learn how to meet as many people as possible in order to have more leads to develop each month. Ten years ago when I started my business I attended an average of 14 networking events every month.
While the follow up of all the leads you get at such events is a crucial component of making this work, without enough leads to follow up on, you’ll basically get nowhere fast.
Therefore, here are a few key tips on how to make the most of your time at your next networking event – Working the Room!
1. Be Prepared: Go with a goal of how many connections you want to make for leads and referral sources. Carry enough business cards. Have an enticing special offer or freebie someone can agree to receive from you when they agree to be signed up for your email list. You don’t need to have the free gifts on hand as long as you can email it later. If you do carry a free gift with you, you may get more leads however. I like to give out audio recordings on CD’s, free checklists for marketing strategies or little promotional products that people will use, not boring ones like pens and paper.
2. Work It Baby: Try not to spend more than five minutes with any one person. If you get someone who goes on and on and on you want to break in and interrupt them and ask them what types of people they wanted to meet here tonight. When they indicate who they would like to meet, glance around the room to find someone to introduce them to and pass them off. The goal is to get other people’s business cards. Giving out yours is not as important because you can always follow up and send them one. Plus when you ask for others’ cards and you ask more questions of them, they tend to like, trust and connect with you better. Don’t talk a lot about yourself.
3. Get Results: Always keep in mind who you’re looking to meet and when you run into them, ask if they’d like to talk with you later and get to know each other. Set an appointment right then, grab their card and move on. Don’t try to have a long-winded or in-depth “get-to-know-you” conversation in the middle of a networking event. Schedlue those for later and make as many as you can. In addition to booking follow up appointments whenever possible, you want to get verbal agreements to add people to your email list so that you can continue to market and follow up with them after the event.

So how do you do it? How do you continuously attract and find new clients, build the business that excites you and make more money … all at the same time?
Entrepreneurs get distracted with so many ideas and options that you either do nothing or you do too many things at once but none of them very well.
Don’t be fooled by all the tricks in the internet marketing world out there….if you’re in business and NOT seeing the kind of income you want to make then this is the perfect strategy for you to hone your skills in. I KNOW you’re not doing enough networking, relationship marketing or maximizing it when you do network. No one does….
Networking is STILL THE FASTEST PATH TO CASH for myself and any of my clients who need to generate business quickly.
So what is the fastest way to cash, and what about building relationships?
You need to meet as many people as you can and then keep in touch with them consistently and persistently in order to stay on top of their minds at all times. So, networking is the fastest way to build your list of customers and prospects and even referral sources. There are online networking strategies these days as well as offline, on this webinar we will touch on both.
Where can you start?
1:Find More Places to Network: More local events, luncheons, meetings, conferences plus national or regional ones too. I recommend making a habit of attending one larger conference or 2-4 day event every quarter at least. Then monthly locally you can attend anywhere from 1-4 per week in most areas if you look hard enough. All the people you meet may not be exact prospects but you could find a lot of prospects, referral sources, opportunities to be a speaker and many other opportunities you wouldn’t have with less networking. One tip on where to find more networking groups or meetings is to search beyond your local chambers, go to meetup.com and do a search for the keywords that would be of interest to your target market, do a search on Google for groups with your specific focus or even search on Facebook or LInkedin.
2: Have a Clear Strategy For Working the Room: To just attend is not good enough, you want to go with a goal of how many people you want to meet, what other goals you can achieve, like how many potential referral sources you want to meet too. Sometimes you also want to become an exhibitor or sponsor of an event, not just an attendee for added exposure and added opportunity to showcase yourself and what you do. One tip for working the room is to ask lots of questions of everyone else and talk more about them than yourself. Asking for everyone’s cards so you can follow up later but even suggesting to them then that you’d love to set up a follow up, get-to-know-ya type of a call.
3:Make Sure You Always Follow Up Like Crazy: This is where most business owners fall down and don’t actually maximize their time networking in the first place. Most sales will be made on the follow up. Most opportunities for speaking gigs or joint ventures will be made on the follow up. Calling to follow up is the best strategy but you also want to follow up via email and direct mail too. If you really want to make a big impression or get to someone quickly and they’re not responding then go search them out on Facebook or your favorite social media site and send them a message there too. One tip about follow up is to NOT add everyone you meet to your email newsletters or a subscription via email however, that is spamming and not good etiquette. If someone asks for you to send them your info or be added to your list then of course you can oblige. Finally, you want to follow up more than one time in each way, minimum of 2 direct mail attempts, emails and phone calls for best response.
Hopefully that helps you figure out how to fit more networking into your schedule and how to maximize your time too. Remember, if you’re not that busy in your business and you need clients; your time spent networking could be the biggest bang for your buck and time to build your business quickly. This is why having a strategic business coach can really help you; we don’t let you go crazy implementing the wrong things first, we help you get focused.
