Selling from the stage has gotten a bad rap.  We’ve all been to presentations where we were promised information on a particular topic yet there was little if any content, and lots of hard sell. So you might have made some decisions right in that moment that you’d never do that to an audience.

If you made that decision, that’s great.  Because the hard sell/minimal content model does not serve your  audience, does not build long term relationships, and will not build your business in the way that most of us want to. But that doesn’t mean you won’t sell from the stage. You’ll just do it differently.

The smartest (and wealthiest) entrepreneurs know that money follows service. 

4 Tips to Serve Your Audience and Sell More— this could double your sales!

1. Decide to provide great content every time you speak.  You will showcase your expertise, build trust with the audience, and be seen as a valued resource.  Your audience will think, “Wow, if she’s giving all this great content in this one speech, imagine what I’d learn if I did a program or coached with her!”

2.  Share your story so your audience can connect with you.  Share where you started.  Show them the obstacles you encountered along the way, and how you overcame them.  Share the lessons you learned.  Show them how you developed your framework, system, or process from your life lessons

3. Skillfully seed during your talk, and make an offer that will help them take it further, and implement what you’ve been teaching.  You can’t tell them everything they need to know in just one hour.  To really be able to implement and make changes in their lives or their businesses, they need to learn more and do more.  That’s where you come in.

Make the perfect offer for that audience.  From your research, you know what they’re struggling with, and you craft a solution for them.  You offer them something that will solve their problem, dissolve their frustration, and end their struggle.  You offer this in the spirit of service, knowing how much it will help them.  You come from your heart with a pure desire to serve, and you align their investment level with the value you’ll provide (this is important).

4.  Master your craft.  Great speeches are written and rewritten.  They are practiced.  They are delivered with great skill and passion.  They follow a structure, include great examples and stories, and use skillful sales techniques.

If you don’t know how to do this, get help.  But do this well…really well.  It’s the fastest way to bring clients and cash into your business. If you’d like to explore how I can help you with this, just reach out to me.

They can’t solve their problem unless you make them an offer that they can say “yes” to!  So your making them an offer gives them a way to make their lives better, to grow their business, or to improve their lives.

One of the biggest challenges for small business owners when it comes to their website is writing the content for it all. 

This is why sometimes it takes you months and months to get your website up or why your site doesn’t do much for you when it is live.

The content for your website is such a critical part yet you spend so little time on it usually because you don’t know what to do.

I want to give you a quick guide on how to write better content for your website and basically for many of your marketing materials as well.

First of all, it’s important to remember that YOUR WEBSITE IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT MATRKETNG TOOL. You need to treat it as such.

When done right, your website can bring you more leads than you could ever generate yourself any other way. The key is to develop a strategy for your website and how it will fit in with all the other marketing and sales processes that you have (or need to have) in place. Then when you have the strategy, you add details that allow for more interaction, personality and functionality for you and your visitors including forms, opt in boxes, videos, links and more.

Here’s a quick 3 step process for writing content for your website including your home page, about page, all your services or sales pages and even your contact page or other pages.

First of all, you have to capture the visitor’s attention with a big bold headline on the top of EVERY page. Think about what the visitor is doing on the page you’re writing, be it the home page or the about page, etc. What is their question or concern in their mind when they click on it? Address that question or concern (in their words) on the very top in big, bold colored font. That big bold headline has to entice them enough to keep on reading. If it doesn’t, they could leave your page or your site all together right then without reading another word.

Secondly, the copy you write under the big bold headline still has to talk to the visitor’s hot buttons, what matters most to them and why they’re on your site. That means you want to still write about their concerns and questions, agitating their possible situation in regards to what you do. This is NOT yet where you talk about what you offer, do or what you sell. You still have to get them to engage in the copy more with the first few paragraphs of each page so they do feel confident that they’re in the right place, on the right site and that you could have the solution to what their need is or what they were searching for.

Finally, after you’ve interacted more, engaged more with the visitor in your copy and what matters most to them, now you can let them know that you have the solution they’ve been searching for. This is where you share more possibly about your expertise, your services/products or you take them to the next step of where you want them to go on your site. Sometimes the next step (for example on your home page) should be to just recommend they get on your email list and get your freebie up in the opt in box on the top of the page. On the home page especially is NOT normally where you want to try to sell them. The goal of your home page is to get them on your email list so you can continue to market to them in case they leave your site after that.

There’s a lot more to know about writing good content for your website but if you keep this formula in mind when doing so then you should see a much better response on your website than if you didn’t do this.

We all hear a lot about the phrase “Do What You Love”.

That is sound advice but how does that work with your marketing? What’s the message that you really share with your prospects?

You’ve got to not only love what you do but you’ve got to have an “Infectious Drive”tm about it. You have to be so excited about what you do and how you’re helping add value to the world that your energy gets everyone around you excited as well.

We all want to Go Viral but why does something go viral? It’s because we have so much enthusiasm that people are drawn to be part of it. They want to be part of whatever you’ve got. It’s not the product. It’s the passion behind the product that really counts.

Think about the last time you saw an infomercial. They ooze enthusiasm in the commercial. I bet you were tempted. Even if you had no need to the Widget 3000. Even though if you ordered in the next 10 minutes you got 10 more for free!

I joke about this but their energy drives people to pull out their credit cards every day of the week.

Now, that’s an infomercial that cost millions to produce with paid actors. That’s not you or your product, but you have something different. You have genuine excitement. You have a vision. You have passion to help people.

Maybe you’re not on late night TV being watched by thousands but even if it’s one person at a time, they can see that energy and excitement. They love what you have to offer, not because of the widget, but because of your vision and how you have a drive that gets them excited as well.

Remember that everything we do it marketing. From selling your products or services to trying to get out of the speeding ticket. It’s all marketing and your energy and enthusiasm will make or break the sale.

Think about why you started your business. What got you excited about it. Share that story. Share why you do what you do. Those are the things that make a lasting impression in the minds and hearts of your prospects, clients, and everyone else in your network.

THAT’S what creates an “Infectious Drive” to those around you!

Many of us have had the wonderful experience of being in the presence of a master, someone who is an expert in his or her field, open and totally willing to share their gifts and insights. We often comment on how open and uplifting just being in their presence can be. It feels as if their very being vibrates with vitality and inspiration.

In my experience, this is absolutely the case. This individual, who is so vital, inspired, open and open hearted resonates all of these qualities in their very being, as if their cells are infused with this energy. Yes, they actually are. His energy field is imbued with the vibration of these attributes, so that every cell of his being is them. Someone who has found and developed their innate gifts and is actively sharing them with the world, has this beautiful, vibrating, aura about them.

And this is possible for each and every one of us, because we have each come here with our own unique gifts to contribute to ourselves and the world.

So how do you find and develop these gifts?

Ask yourself what really excites you, what you identify with and makes you the happiest. Go for anything, even (and sometimes especially) if it doesn’t seem practical or attainable. Leave the practical stuff aside. That will unfold if you are truly aligned with your purpose.

Write down what comes up uncensored and without judgment.

Think about things that people have appreciated about you, no matter how insignificant they may seem. It could be something as simple as your smile, your love of animals, the aesthetics of your home. Many times the reflections of others come as really good clues as to how our vibration is already manifesting in the world.

Begin to allow yourself to feel these things in your life more and more. It’s not just about writing them down, it’s about practicing the deepening of what you are already about. In this way, as we become more “ourselves”, other things will begin to manifest in a synchronistic manner in our lives. That’s when the magic begins!

As we develop our inner mastery, life begins to reflect it more and more and we are called to fulfill it more and more.

We’ve all heard the claims, seen the testimonials, and bought into the hype.

And we sit wondering, “What’s WRONG with me that I can’t do that?”

I’m going to tell you some real truth about success because I actually want you to SUCCEED.  If you know what’s really behind it, and you take the steps, you can get where you want to go.  IF you know all there is to it.

The truth is, 90% of very willing, eager, and hopeful entrepreneurs don’t make it past their first year.  I believe that the success rate can far exceed 10% if people were more educated about how business really works.

Let’s first explore…why only 10%?  What I’ve found is this…

In the first year, well – EVERYTHING is new.  We’re taught to avoid being a novice at all costs, because our egos want to appear that we know what we’re doing.  Because there is so much to learn, and it feels uncomfortable, 90% of people just give up and won’t stick it out.


Here’s an example:

If you want to be a speaker, chances are…you may suck for your first few talks.  However, if you want it enough and you’re driven to keep going, you ask questions, get some training, and practice – then lo and behold – you’re going to be an awesome speaker.  It’s that simple.

Making money as an entrepreneur requires some skills.  There’s marketing.  Sales conversations.  Technology.  Relationship building.  The list goes on and on.  Growing a business will pull you out of your comfort zone in 25 different directions at once.  But – when you take one step at a time, breathe, ask questions, get help, and just DO IT…at some point you will achieve mastery.  (And, then you’ll be on to the next new and exciting thing!)

Being an entrepreneur is a spiritual, mental, and emotional bootcamp.  It will train you to be at your best, know who you are, and embrace the unknown more than just about anything you’ll ever do.

If you’re reading this, I strongly encourage you to keep going.  It does get easier.  And, this life comes with a confidence and belief in yourself that’s based on actual, real life experience.  It’s VERY worth it.  I promise.  You can be one of the 10% if you simply decide right now that you aren’t giving up.

That’s what every successful person you know has in common. There was no “plan b”.  They just made it work.  It’s not because they are smarter, prettier, richer, or more popular.  It’s because they kept going.  YOU can do that too.  Let today be the day you decide.
