** Note: Today I want to share a very valuable article about email marketing from one of my Live Big Mastermind clients as a guest post on my blog, enjoy!

If you’ve ever entered an online contest, offered your email address to an online or local store, or given the okay for a sales consultant to send you information, you’ve joined an email list.

Email lists are simply the email addresses and names of people who signed up, by one of many different means, to receive emails such as electronic magazines (“e-zines”) or newsletters, electronic courses (e-courses), or product information in their inbox.

Collecting customer and prospect contact information and keeping in touch with them on a regular basis is the key to any online business’s success.

Here are some of the main reasons to start building your list:

Presence – An email list that you use regularly gives you an easy way to keep your name in front of your customers and prospects on a continual basis.

Connection – Your average customer may only purchase from you a few times a year. But you continue to stay in touch with her, providing her with quality information that relates to a topic she’s interested in. When she DOES need to purchase, you’ll be the one she buys it from.

Education – Some products and industries require more education before prospects are ready to purchase. Email lists offer an easy, inexpensive way to provide the information your prospects need, moving them through the learning curve, until they’re ready to buy.

Feedback – Do your customers want your next product to be bigger or smaller than what you have now? Do they hate the background music on your website? Do they wish your software was compatible with a platform you don’t currently offer? Don’t guess — just ask them!

Easy to Share – Word-of-mouth can be your best source of new business. By providing easy-to-share electronic newsletters or product information, you make it more likely that your current customers will pass the word to their friends, without incurring a minute of your time or a penny of your money.

Those are some great reasons for building a list but how do you know what to write and when?

There are 4 primary types of email sequences every business needs, they are:

1. Nurture Sequence for your freebie – Follow Up Sequence – behind an opt-in
2. Transactional Sequence – Follow Up Sequence – behind a purchase
3. General/Newsletter Sequence – an email you send out at regular intervals to your list
4. Launch Sequence for a Program – promotional emails

What is the goal of a nurture sequence?

  • Build new relationship
  • Lasts 15 to 21 days

What is the goal of a transactional sequence?

  • Eliminate buyer’s remorse
  • Remember results sell

What is the goal of a newsletter?

  • Educate & Build TOMA (Top of Mind Awareness)
  • Send a weekly newsletter
  • EXAMPLE: Tuesday Tips. Wednesday Wins

What is the goal of a launch sequence?

  • Sell something
  • Average 3 emails per week

You now know the what and why, now it’s time to work out the how.

** Note: I’m sharing this article from one of my clients, Alicia White  –  Branding Strategist, Speaker and Consultant who works with business owners, coaches, speakers and entrepreneurs to develop unique branding and professional marketing materials.

Many times public speakers are asked to not sell from the stage. Even soft sells are prohibited. Often times, professional speakers will accept these terms, especially if the audience is his or her target client.

Should you decide to speak knowing you can’t sell from the stage, here are seven ways to maximize your time and gain marketing opportunities.

1. Encourage photo opportunities before and after you speak and ask the individuals to tag you. If you have a hashtag, make sure they use it when tagging you. This is great for social media marketing.

2. During your presentation, ask the attendees to tweet and post something you have said: a fact or important point. Repeat the hashtag. (Note: I’ve seen great professional speakers go over board on this and I lose a little respect each time they do it. Limit it to only a couple of times during your presentation.)

3. Request that you get a copy of the video or audio recording. You can always use this in your marketing or create a sizzle/demo reel.

4. Ask the event planner to connect you with key individuals who are a good fit for your services.

5. Ask the organizer if you can set up a table at the back of the room. If he says yes, have your lead generation process in place. If it’s not allowed, ask if you can place materials on the seats.

6. Get a testimonial from the event planner and/or the organization’s president/CEO. Liberally use in all of your marketing and on your speaker sheet and website.

7. If someone asks about your services, have your appointment book ready to go to offer that free consultation. Better yet, create an order form with that free consultation and keep it with you at all times!

These are just a few tips in getting the best out of no selling from the stage.

Cheers to YOUR Speaking Success!

** I wanted to showcase another one of my star students and amazing speaker and coach, Jennifer Darling. Jennifer is amazing at not only LinkedIn marketing but sales in general. She definitely gives some “super tips” in this article that I wanted to share with you here on my blog.

Want to Maximize Networking Events with LinkedIn?

Do you have a drawer full of business cards stacked in piles or put in a shoebox after every networking event?  Not sure what to do with all those fancy cards?  Do you pull them out of the drawer now and then and try to remember where it was you met these people?

Use these tips for maximizing who you meet at networking events using LinkedIn. You’ll love this!

1. Immediately send a connection request to each person you meet. This will ensure you stay in touch long after the networking event. I like to send a message within 24 hours of the event. Make it a standard operating procedure, you won’t forget, and your face will be fresh in their minds.

2. Send a private, custom message. Remind your connection where you met, and what you talked about. This is no time to get salesly, you want to start a relationship. Another benefit is having a history in your message box of when and where you met each contact, and what you talked about. This is useful for future conversations.

3. Attach an article that you wrote, or one you found that is helpful to your new connection. You don’t have to do this right away, you can do it in a follow up message. It shows that you are interested in supporting their businesses and gives value.

4. Make an introduction. It’s really great when you meet someone and can bring them value by making an introduction to someone they need to meet. It could be they’re looking for an accountant, a business coach, or an insurance person. Make this connection and everyone wins.

5. Endorse your connections. Endorsements help connections increase their credibility in the field they work in. It’s different than a recommendation which is another word for testimonial, I do not recommend this unless you’ve actually worked together. An endorsement is appropriate.

If you want to build influence and maximize the connections you meet, using LinkedIn is one of the best ways you can make this happen. It’s easy and it’s impressive. Stand out from the rest of the crowd and use LinkedIn to grow your relationship.

If you don’t have a customer relations management system (and even if you do) and, you didn’t ask permission for your connections to be added to your email marketing list, this is an excellent system for you to manage with ease.

(If you don’t know you are supposed to do ask permission and get someone’s opt-in to be on your email marketing list, start doing it now because it’s required by the FCC, read more here: https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business

** Note: I’m sharing this article from one of my Live Big Mastermind clients, Dr. Richard B. Greene, DBA, SSBB, CMPE  –  Speaker, Author, IronMan Mind Business Coach, who helps executives get to their next level in their professional and personal life.

Are you in sales? Before you answer that question think about what sales really is.  Most people (except sales professionals) don’t consider themselves to be in sales. I think the reason is that they don’t really know what sales is about. First, let me explain what it is not about.

It is not about convincing or tricking someone into buying a good or service.

Here’s what sales is. Sales is bringing a buyer and seller together with all the right elements of information and need to create a purchase situation. Sales is about problem-solving. Sales is about information sharing. Sales is about influence. Nothing more nothing less.

Everyone uses influence in their lives. We influence our kids to get them to behave the way we’d like them to behave. If you are married or have a partner, you had to influence that person to accept you as a mate. If you have a job, you had to influence the hiring person to hire you. If you are a manager in a company, you have to influence your employees to give you their best. Just telling them to give 100% never works unless you have real influence. Are you starting to get the picture? Sales is all about influence … nothing more nothing less.

One of the things that I’ve found is that the real difference between winning or losing in sales and business is you. Sure, product, service, price, and company reputation are all important. But, at the end of the day, the customer is buying “you”, not those other things.

Company owners and managers of salespeople, don’t be deluded into thinking that it is not “your people” that make you successful. If you don’t believe it look around at other companies in your industry. It doesn’t matter what business you are in. You’ll find many examples of companies with products inferior to the competition that are at the top of the heap. In almost all cases, when you research the cause, you’ll find that it is the “people” that were the major contributor to that company’s success.

So is it important to continuously develop your sales influence? You bet it is! I once met a company owner who was concerned that if he spent money training his salespeople they might take that knowledge and go to another company. I asked him what he thought the biggest risk was; training them and possibly losing them or not investing in making them better, more productive salespeople and getting to keep them! At the end of the sale, it is you who makes the difference.

So now what’s your answer to the question “are you in sales?” Your answer should be “Of course, we are all in sales!”

Developing your skills to influence can help you in all aspects of life; your career and your personal life. Develop those skills and you’ll increase your ability to influence. Increase your ability to influence and you’ll increase your chances for success in life!

** Note: I’m sharing this article from one of my Live Big Mastermind clients, Barbara Ingrassia with Manage Copyright, because it’s very timely and important for you to know when shooting family fun photos and videos this summer.

Ah Summer!  Time for picnics, reunions, family gatherings in the back yard, weddings, anniversary parties, birthday parties, travel. Time for creating special memories. Shooting pictures, videos, etc.

And we want to share those with others, don’t we? It’s so easy. There’s Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.

You might be:

  • Taking a Group Photo
  • Scanning the people attending the event
  • Recording dancing at a wedding
  • Recording Uncle Charley making funny faces
  • Singing “Happy Birthday”
  • Recording remarks by the “Guests of Honor”
  • Other?

Here are some tips to keep in mind for safely sharing those special memories:

✓ Don’t share what you wouldn’t want your grandparents (or boss or future boss) to see. Once it’s out there, it’s out there.
✓ Make sure everyone is onboard with sharing on social media.
✓ Not everyone likes to be “out there.” Respect their privacy. Don’t “tag” without their OK.

(Another thing about sharing: The person who takes the photo/shoots the video owns the copyrights to those, but when you post to social media, you are granting the platform a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute such Content in any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed). This license authorizes the platform to make your Content available to the rest of the world and to let others do the same. (You won’t be compensated.) Yup, it says that in the Terms and Conditions of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. And by using the site, you have agreed to those Terms.)

✓ Is there music playing? Even if it’s in the background and not important to the subject of the video, social media platforms have automated systems that can detect copyrighted content. Your video may be rejected or the audio suppressed. This can happen even with live video. If the automated systems don’t catch it, the copyright owner may still manually submit a DMCA take down request. The vast majority of recordings were made after 1923, so they are still protected by copyright. Bummer!
✓ BUT do go ahead and sing a boisterous and energetic “Happy Birthday To You” without fear (depending on the quality of your singing, of course. )

[On June 30, 2016, the US District Court in Central CA ruled that “Happy Birthday To You” is in the public domain (out of copyright). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Birthday_to_You#cite_note-settlement2016-19]

✓ What’s in the background of your shots/videos? Take a quick look for prominent copyrighted images or trademark logos, videos, movies, etc. Consider repositioning the shot if you can without losing the moment. While this might not be as much of an issue as music, IT DEPENDS. Some rights holders can be very protective.

BUT DO CREATE THOSE SPECIAL MEMORIES. Just remember to:

✓ Keep it Fun and Keep it Legal!

Have a GREAT SUMMER!

***This is a Guest blog post about referral marketing is by Coach/Speaker, Mickey Griffith.

“The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions.”

How many times have we heard that? In school, in business, at home when we hear ourselves saying it to our children or ourselves? Reminding ourselves that we shouldn’t leave things undone. Get busy. Get in motion. Get something done, don’t just talk about it. So then, what it should really say is, “The Road to Hell is paved with procrastination.”

The Road to Success is paved with good intentions! Especially when it comes to referral marketing.

If building referral marketing success is a process of developing and using business contacts as a way to build business, then the road to Success should be paved with good intentions. Or more specifically; good intent. Having good intentions is the base gravel for the road and dictates the strength of the foundation on which the referral marketing traffic is going to travel.

What is your true intent in regards to your referral marketing activities? Are you engaged in a process of motivating your referral partners by truly helping them, or are you just doing the minimum to maintain the relationship?

People will eventually see through a facade. Are you practicing open, honest communication with those in your referral network? Having a foundation of good intentions is essential in traveling a smooth road to referral marketing success.

Honest, good intent will help you avoid common referral marketing mistakes.

Good intent will keep you from pouncing on potential new referrals, pushing them away or forcing a referral that isn’t quite ready yet. Try to make sure the true intent was not just to make yourself look good in your referral network.

Passing a referral at your meeting might feel good, but it does not help the person being referred and can in fact damage the very relationship you’re trying to build.

This one should be easy, but is often overlooked, especially by those new to the referral marketing process: Good intent should keep you from meeting with people in your referral network for a one-to-one and then trying to sell them your goods or services.

The one-to-one meeting is about building a relationship and if you are immediately trying to sell to people in your referral network, it will quickly be public knowledge that your intent is really just to sell.

Where the rubber meets the road. Sometimes looking in the mirror can be tough, but try doing a thorough examination. Be careful not to misdiagnose your intent.

Are you really involving yourself to help others as a means of growing your own business? Notice the “help others” comes first in that statement. Selfless giving is not always hereditary, it can be developed, and it really is essential to building good will with people you are trying to do business with by referral.

Finally, old adages don’t die easily. The road to hell is paved with procrastination. New habits take exercise and the more you exercise good intentions the more success you should see, just ahead.

Keep Shining!

***Guest blog post from one of my Awesome Live Big Mastermind clients, Lisa Harris of EnduringFitness4u.com – enjoy!

While at a luncheon recently, the conversation at the table I was sitting at turned to maintaining focus and achieving goals. The business coach that was next to me ask me if I had a morning routine.

My answer was a resounding “No!” Over time, I’ve developed a bad habit of staying in bed after the alarm goes off; it’s just so easy to hit the “snooze” button!

But the question posed by the coach at our table aroused my curiosity to the point that I began researching the topic of morning routines when I returned home. What I found is that most of us do not engage in or practice a morning routine.

Set Your Morning, Set Your Day

A routine will help keep you focused on your most important tasks and you’ll be less likely to let distractions knock you off track. Many experts say a morning routine will help you prepare for your day. It’s helps you be proactive and can increase productivity and energy levels. A morning plan also helps you take care of yourself, first.

Many successful people who depend on their A.M. routines are Former President Obama, Steve Jobs, Tony Roberts, just to name a few.

Steps to Create your Morning Routine

1. Prepare the night before. This helps decrease the number of decisions you have to make in the morning, boosting your chance of success.

  • Make a commitment to rise at a specific time.
  • Move your alarm away from your bed because this forces you to get up.
  • Set out your clothes and anything else you’ll need the next day

2. Stay hydrated – drink a large glass of water upon rising.
3. Valuable activities to do in your routine:

  • Meditate or sit in silence.
  • Express gratitude.
  • Write goals.
  • Exercise.
  • Visualize your successful day.

4.  Last but not least important – you’ll need to get up earlier than you do now.

The coach who posed the morning routine question to us at the luncheon recommended “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod. She thought this book would help jumpstart my day with focus. And she was right!

Since reading the book, I’m surprised that I no longer hate getting up at 5:30 a.m. I used to loathe rising early because I had to leave home at 6:15 for my 50-mile drive to work (ugh, how did I ever do that?). I was also a terrible sleeper which didn’t help.

I’m happy to report that after only 8 days into my new morning routine, I’m actually enjoying it. I’ll continue to keep you updated on my progress from time to time.

I highly encourage you to check out the book, if you’re looking for a new way to start a morning routine and get focused.

This article about ClickFunnels is by one of my Virtual Assistants and clients, but I highly agree!

No matter what point you are in your business, you are always looking for THE best solutions for operating your business.

There are so many choices for systems out there and sometimes it can be hard to choose one.

One of the things we do at That Helpful Chick is help business owners find the best systems, not only for their business BUT for their budget as well !!

If you are unsure of what system to use; or if you would like to know if what you are currently using is really the best choice for you; take a moment to fill out this short form and schedule your FREE consultation call TODAY!

Bottom Line: You can get by with very little cost if you are just starting out, as little as less than $50 per month.

Are there systems that make your life easier? Of course there are, but they usually have a cost that comes with that convenience.

Kathy and I LOVE our tech. We love checking out new tools and systems and see if they are as good as they claim themselves to be.

One of the most recent ones we have looked at is ClickFunnels (CFs). What I will say is, if you just want a simple page builder solution, there are cheaper ones out there.

What is CFs good for then? It does simplify creating a sales funnel and taking payments. If you don’t mind paying $97 a month for that, then CFs is good for you.

Be aware though, that at the $97 plan you are limited to 20 funnels and 100 pages (funnel steps).

They claim to be an all-in-one solution and they are definitely NOT!

If you have the full Etison Suite at $297 per month, you also get access to Actionetics for email and Backpack to create your affiliate program as well as unlimited funnels and pages.

Sounds like an all-in-one solution, doesn’t it? However, what they don’t tell you:

  • You need an SMTP service to deliver emails (paid service)
  • If you want to do SMS, you have to purchase Twilio (paid service)
  • If you want to be notified when someone opts in or buys – good luck cause the in funnel system doesn’t work properly

Those are just a small example of the issues with CF.

There is no live support to call.

There is no communication with their clients (YOU) when known issues come about that have a direct effect on YOUR business.

I could go on and on but I think you get the idea.

Do we still recommend CFs? Sometimes we do. We do not recommend the full suite to anyone unless they have a big budget, simply because it allows for unlimited funnels.

It is also a good solution for a page builder for those who have ZERO tech skills.

I can say it IS the best page design solution I have seen. You can easily create, edit and use beautiful sales pages.

What it IS NOT is an all-in-one solution.

Is there such a thing, you may be asking? Maybe. We are looking into a few other tools out there and will let you know what we find.

What can you use if you don’t have a budget for systems like CFs?

Well, we would love to have that discussion with you !

Click Here to fill out a short form and book a FREE call with us today. 🙂

Here’s to Your Success!

Here’s a recipe for Success in Life using 5 Steps!

Guest blog post

By Dr. Richard B. Greene, PeakPerformerBook.com

5 steps to success in your life

I am a huge proponent of using formulas to do things I’ve never done before. Let me give you an example, I don’t consider myself to be a great cook; just a competent one. I really enjoy good food and I view dining and the presentation of food as an art. But here’s the deal, I don’t have to be an artist to make a good meal. I can simply follow a recipe. If I don’t deviate from the recipe, chances are that I’ll make something that is pretty tasty. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe I’m a gourmet chef. But I can make a pretty wicked lobster bisque!

The recipe example I just gave can work with other things as well. There are plenty of examples for success in life that are solid. Some of you may have read my book, The Ten Commandments of Peak Performance. In that book, I focus on ten key areas that can significantly increase your levels of performance in life. In a sense, it is also a recipe for increasing your levels of performance so that you are operating at peak efficiency.

I think success works the same way. You can increase your chances for success substantially if you follow a recipe that others have used and that is proven to work. I’ve studied and researched the success factors of people in many different walks of life.

Here are five steps that you can take that I think are very powerful.

Step 1: Follow Your Passions
We live in one of the greatest of times. I truly believe that. Now more than ever, people have a greater chance of living a life fulfilled…whatever that means to you.

I’m a big believer in formulas. It used to be that you had to figure out what the formula for success and happiness was. If you didn’t have good role models or of you grew up in an environment that was not positive, encouraging, or growth oriented, this made things even more difficult.

Fortunately, the internet brings you information, knowledge, encouragement, and stories of success from all over the world. If you have a passion or a direction you want to pursue, chances are great that there is someone else out there that has the same thoughts. That someone has made it and they can help you make it as well!

So…not knowing what to do is a poor choice for not following your passion. Even if you can’t find examples of exactly what you want in life, you are sure to find things that are similar. From that you can extrapolate. Sure, it’s going to take some work. But everything is possible in life if you have the desire and passion.

The conventional wisdom of finding a job, slugging away for 20, 30, or 40 years, and hanging onto that job at all costs just doesn’t serve people very well. In fact, in most cases it never did. Research shows that 52.3% of people are dissatisfied with their careers or vocation.
Do what you love, and you’ll find that your life will work out. You will be fulfilled. You will make enough to pay the bills. You will make a difference to yourself, to your family, and to many others.

Step 2: Immerse Your Mind in Good Stuff
Napoleon Hill said “you become what you think about.” The book of proverbs says something similar; “For as he thinks in is heart, so is he.”

A study recently published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology confirms that you are deeply shaped by the books you read. In fact, just as watching television can chip away at your contentment, the books you read can be negative influences in your life. What you read can reflect the negative aspects of your personality, or it can serve to elevate your thoughts and turn you towards that which is positive.

Watch videos, read blogs, read books, listen to podcasts. Immerse yourself with positive things. Be very conscious and intentional about what you focus your attention on and who and what you spend your time with. What goes into your eyes and ears goes into your brain and into your heart – and it becomes who you are.

Step 3: Associate with Positive People.
Remember when you were growing up and Mom and Dad wanted to know who you were hanging around with? The reason was simple yet very powerful. If you associate with negative people or people that are engaged in activities that are immoral or illegal, you’ll tend to adopt the same thinking and behavior that they have.

It doesn’t matter if you think you are a good person. Just associating with the wrong type of individual can have a negatively profound effect on your thinking…and possibly your behavior. It is important to take stock on who is around you. If you take an honest assessment, you’ll find that not everyone is going to be the model of what you want to achieve in life. This is where some tough decision making must occur.

You may need to disassociate yourself from people that don’t serve you well or are dragging you down in life. This may be painful. You might get judged. You might suffer repercussions. This may be difficult because these people may be close friends or even family. In the case of the latter, you might wish to start by simply limiting your exposure to those people as much as you can.

When you associate with people that are like minded, that strive for the same type of betterment that you do, you’ll find that you will have very powerful allies. They will affect your success and happiness in life on both a conscious and a subconscious level. I call this very powerful action “The Power of Association.” Try it…it can be very effective.

Step 4: Have Gratitude
Successful people have gratitude. They are thankful for all that they have including all experiences; good and bad. They realize one of the keys to success is to “happily succeed rather than try to succeed to be happy.”

Dealing with challenging situations is just a matter of framing them the right way. Challenges are not meant to be seen as hurdles in the road, rather part of the road. It is the challenges in life that shape who we become because that is where the growth occurs.

Focusing on the things you don’t have in life serve no good purpose. There is a reason why one of the Ten Commandments in the bible says “You must not be envious of your neighbor’s goods.” Because it will do nothing but make you unhappy. You’ll be focusing on what you don’t have instead of what you do have.

Living in a state of lack is a huge disservice to yourself. You only see the negative that comes from not having the things you want in life. A better focus is one of abundance. Being grateful for what you have, even when you have to go through pain and failure, allows you to live in an abundant state.

A great exercise to institute the habit of gratitude is to write three things you are grateful for in the morning and in the evening. You should write these things down as opposed to just thinking about them. Writing things out takes them from the abstract into reality. It sets off a chain of commands in the neurons in the brain that lend itself to experiencing something in an entirely different way than just thinking about it.

Step 5: Get a Mentor or Coach
Too many people, the idea of getting a coach to help take them where they have never gone before is not a consideration. Not because they are against it. But because they just don’t understand the power and the value that coaching can bring. Many people think of athletics when it comes to coaches. And, that’s probably a good example of what a coach can do. An athlete who has a coach is more likely to:

  • Recovers more quickly and effectively from a bad performance
  • Learns more from a bad, and in fact every, performance
  • Develops more effectively during practices
  • Learns their talents and strengths more quickly and effectively
  • Creates a strategy to leverage their strengths to their advantage
  • Achieves more during that season

Putting athletic performance aside…wouldn’t it be great if you could do all of those things as well in your life? Of course it would! Hiring a coach to help take you places you have never been before is a very good investment.

If you are reticent to spend money on a coach you should ask yourself two questions: 1) What is the cost of failure? and 2) What is the cost of wasted time because you don’t know the best way to get what you want to achieve?

A good coach can listen to what it is you say and provide sold advice. They can be a confidential sounding board; a trusted advisor who can ask you provocative questions that help you uncover what your gifts, strengths, values, principles, true dreams, goals, and aspirations. A good coach can take all that information and help put you on the path to making those dreams become reality. Now…what’s that worth?

Like any recipe, formula, or set of instructions, these five steps are a guide. You have room for interpretation of how to execute them, but none should be discounted. They are all just as important as flour or wheat is to baking bread. If you leave those ingredients out the end result will be less than desirable.

Follow these five guidelines and you’ll begin to see a real differences as to the level of success in your life!

“Personal Leadership: Leadership from the Inside Out”

By Mooniek Seebregts, CenterOfinnovationForLeaders.com

leadership moonriek seebregtsWe see that the title of leadership, whether CEO, manager, entrepreneur or supervisor doesn’t mean that the person is courageous, honest, authentic and aware. We hope they will be but it is often not the case. Being in a position of power and leading from expectations, ego, and the desire to control is NOT leadership. Who wants to follow someone who leads from a place of dominance instead of understanding? And then we secretly reject or don’t want to follow that person. Have you known mediocre leaders who don’t function well because the are not inspiring?

So what is the confusion? The confusion is this – most of us think that leadership is about “controlling others,” that leadership “looks a certain way,” that leadership is about “delegating,” “telling others what to do,” “having authority,” “talking a certain way,” “having a certain lifestyle.” That is an old, persistent way of thinking and acting. Did that thought start in the Industrial Revolution?

At the Center of Innovation for Leaders we believe that you cannot lead others successfully until you lead yourself first. We are passionate about bringing a broad understanding about Personal Leadership to every individual, so that every person can thrive instead of survive. So that you can thrive. So that you can grow versus repeating your past over and over again. Great things happen when people understand Personal Leadership: teams become successful and individuals feel fortunate!

There is inner work that must be done to become a successful leader who others want to follow. It is not something one can learn by reading about it and then adopting a different leadership “style.” It requires self-exploration and the bringing forth of our best qualities and expression of our core values. When the outer leader reflects the expanded inner human being, growth and success in all areas naturally follows.

This year, on October 27, 2017, we are having Sacramento’s 4th Annual Personal Leadership Conference. This year’s theme “Personal Leadership: Our Stories” will focus on the stories that make us take a stand, become significant, put our best forward, and inspire others?
