Why do you want to use more freebies and gifts in your marketing?

Because typically it will…

  • Attract new prospects to your list or your website
  • Get prospects interacting with your content, your website, yourself so they can trust and connect with you faster
  • Allow them to experience you on a deeper level to decide if they want to buy from you or take the next step

Here are a few examples of WHAT you could create:

  1. Free Report – talk about or teach the top 3 tips on something, 3 keys, 5 biggest mistakes, anything how-to oriented, all of them are good.
  2. Free Audio – like the one on this page, notice that I am giving you access to a free audio training I did a few years ago and you can do this too. RECORD EVERYTHING YOU DO! You never know when you can use it again, gift it or bonus it in a package. Same types of topics as above.
  3. Free Video or Video Series – Same as above but do it via video. Get yourself on camera to really connect deeper with the audience and your followers, video will make the biggest impact because they can see you. You can use a combination of powerpoint slides, photos, flip charts, music if you want, testimonials and of course yourself; I do recommend putting YOU on the video though for sure at some point.
  4. Free Drawing – for some of my clients such as photographers, salons and spas, network marketers and a few other types of businesses you could run a drawing each month only for new subscribers to your newsletter. They can have the chance to win a gift certificate, free product, special package of some sort or cash even. But make sure it’s NOT just the chance to get a discount on whatever it is that you’re selling, that’s not a “freebie”.
  5. Free Service – for my salon and spa clients often times we offer a free facial or free massage. If you’re in charge of booking the business and providing the service this works, if not and you have your stations rented of course this won’t work unless each therapist or stylist agrees. You just pick one winner each month from new subscribers.

I wanted to offer this to anyone who is having trouble getting people to initially opt into their website or who needs to attract more people from in person events onto their list.

Freebies allow you to have something to give a new potential prospect so they can experience you another way – either usually in written form, audio or now video is becoming a very popular way to develop a freebie. You can also have a great next step in that free gift that could be paid or somehow will get them to engage further with you if they want to know more.

Most entrepreneurs need more than one freebie or free gift.

You may need many different ways and things you can offer or give to attract different types of prospects, talk about different topics or things they’re looking for and/or give them different ways to experience you – hence the audio, video or report. Some people want to read more, some want to watch, some want to listen. You do want to give people options or you’ll steer away those who aren’t interested in the ONE way you’ve given them.

Hi, it’s Katrina Sawa here with a less than a 2 weeks away reminder about my event!

In preparing for my amazing 3+ day Jumpstart Your Marketing & Sales Summit, I have been speaking with tons of you over the phone and email who have been either on the fence or trying to work out how to attend this event. 

Many of the challenges or questions I’m hearing include the following, do you have some of these as well? I’ve addressed them a little here but please contact me THIS WEEK (via email or phone) if you want to discuss any of this or other challenge in order to decide to attend or not.

  • Financial – hard to find the money for the travel, hotel, etc.
    • If you think it’s hard now, what about in 3, 6 or 12 months when you HAVEN’T learned how to build an efffective, consistent lead generating and revenue generating business!
  • Family – my spouse isn’t that supportive of me going or I’m having a hard time leaving my kids and responsibilities
    • Bring them with you, it’s the best way for them to see what you’re doing and how passionate you are about doing your business and serving others. Serioiusly, if this or a good sit-down talking to doesn’t help then what are you doing with someone who honestly isn’t supporting you and your dreams? I’m tired of seeing people settle. As for the kids, they will be fine without you for a few days, especially if you come home with a plan to ROCK & ROLL your REVENUES this year!
  • Unsure of what I will get out of it? – I’ve been to many workshops, seminars and events before, what makes this one different?
    • I can only say that this one will be different. Many others teach the what and the why but I teach the HOW. You will be able to make so many more smarter marketing and business decisions when you leave it will literally make your head spin.
  • I can’t make it for the whole time, only partial time – should I still come?
    • Definitely, there will be so much covered every day and how to get more done that you will for sure pick up 3-10 things you can implement today to create more revenue or leads or leverage or more!
  • I’m not sure I’m ‘ready’ for this type of training yet in my business, I’m new or I’m just doing it parttime or I have a job still…

Creating and promoting your own teleseminars or webinars every month in your small business could be the #1 lead generating strategy that works for you this year. I recommend you consider adding this.

This can be a very quick way to get introduced to thousands of people and prospects in your target market. It’s relatively easy to create a teleseminar or webinar and get it out there to the masses. Here’s a quick system for doing this every single month consistently to be seen, heard and known more in your business.

STEP 1:  Develop the idea for what you’ll speak or present on:  What does your ideal target market want to learn more about that you can present on? Choose something they want to learn, not necessarily something you know they need to learn. Determine if you need to show visuals during your presentation or not which means you would want to do a webinar verses a teleseminar. Doing a teleclass or teleseminar is easier to start with.

Note:  Test the waters first if you’re not sure what topic to present on. Post a few comments or questions to your friends and followers on social media or conduct a survey to your email subscriber list or just call a few key clients and ask them.

STEP 2:  Create the page on your website where you’ll drive people to opt in to get access to your teleseminar or webinar. The main reason we want to do these is to get more subscribers to our email newsletter list so you do want to make people opt in somehow. If you don’t have a shopping cart hooked up to your website or an email marketing service to make adding that opt in box functionality easy then you can use forms and plug-ins on WordPress if your site if built on WordPress. If you don’t yet have a site or you’re finding this step difficult, reach out and email me and let me find a solution for you so this doesn’t get you stuck.

STEP 3:  Choosing when to do this and how far out to give yourself for proper promotion is a very important aspect of being successful with this type of marketing strategy. I typically recommend choosing your date at least two to three weeks after you know your opt in page will be ready to promote to give yourself enough time to get enough signups. The day and time of your presentation doesn’t matter as much as it used to although you do want to take into account specific needs and characteristics of your target market. For example, are they home and busy with kids early mornings or mid-afternoons or do they hold a job still from 9-5? You may want to think about those things before choosing your time of day and week.

STEP 4:  The Set Up. Which technology will you use? Conference lines are free for most calls you’ll do verses most webinar services cost money. Setting up emails to inform and remind registrants of the call in information. I recommend you remind them a few times prior to the event as well as follow up with them a few times afterwards to make sure they take advantage of your offer or at least listen in to the replay if you’re offering it. This is where a lot of people fail; they don’t do hardly any follow up after the presentation if they do any at all. This is where the majority of my sales take place; it’s in the follow up.

STEP 5:  Start telling people about your event – MARKET IT LIKE CRAZY! I’m going to share more marketing and promotion tips in Part 2 of this article, check back in a week or so to find out more!
